Pulled the louvers apart, sanded, repainted, then got new rivets and hardware. They turned out nice, as with everything there are a few flaws.
Ma king an effort to spruce up the front bumper that should be replaced, the metallic spray paint is a PITA but after some clear coat it aught to hold up.
only example of the bumper from before, the rust is pitting and all the chrome is shot
Only after cleaning up the car does the severity of this front bumper situation rear its head. The mounts are bent and with no trim its looking horrid, since finding said trim hasn’t bore fruit ill likely end up making new mounts that bring it closer to the car and hacking together some trim bits out of steel (might force me to buy an English wheel)

Get a cheap 240/260 Z bumpers for it, they look much better, assuming the owner is willing to pay for them.

Hmmm... so I should buy a new Z and add louvres to it. Got it.

I might even have some at my dad’s house. They really bring in that 70's look. No I’m not adding any to my car.

That ones a no go, I tried. The owner needs the bum pers to be functional and those thin ones wouldn't stand up to much of anything

I can attest to the fact that 240 bumpers are purely for show. They get dented from an insect impact.

Oh no not park bench bumpers! They need to get a backdate kit!

Yep, but insurance paid to restore the back end!

Did you keep the 680 FXN plates, and was the plate custom or it just happened to be 680 Fixing...

I grabbed the car because it was original engine and plates. I kept them alright! The front plate is a bit more rough, I bolted it to the BRE air dam so it became part of it, this is right after we painted it, no headlight covers yet :

The series 1 240 to the left in my friend’s shop lot is like #400 in the vin, lowest number he has had at his shop. The guy wants to restore it to showroom condition.
