Finally got my new seats in! it’s been years on the want list and I finally picked up them up today. They are a little overstuffed right now so I feel like I’m being pushed off the seat a little but it’ s still better than feeling smashed up against the seat’ s hardpoints.
They were over time (i made an appointment a month ago and dropped it off when I said I would and they still took 2 days plus the weekend, plus one more day, even though they said it would take 1 day), over budget (about a 1/3rd more than I was quoted) and they didn’t do it quite right. When I went to pick them up the bar that was hitting my back with the old seats was still hitting my back. We’d discussed this exact situation when I got my quote and I wasn’t about to pay what I did to have a rod in my back, so after my wife dropped me off with my 9-year old I made them go back and fix it...so I had an hour to kill. My wife came and picked up the kiddo about 40 minutes later as she was out shopping. Thankfully she makes the most of situations like this. It’s been an ordeal (minor ordeal) b ut they are in. The seat heaters are in and there are pigtails for the switches but I’ m going to add my own switches (Toyota factory) into what I am told is a Toyota factory harness under the console. I’m just waiting on the switches to get here from Japan. Its been about 2 months.

That is the cupholder. Yes, THE cupholder.

I honestly couldn’t tell whether it was a real cupholder or you just stuck it between the
seat lol

A little of both. This is the actual Toyota supplied cupholder. The one... In a 7 seater.
My wife got a 3d printed one for my birthday so now I have 2.
I have 6 ash trays btw

Great choice of color. Those look like they’re out of a modern luxury SUV like a maybe a Yukon Denali, not an old adventure rig. I wish you many happy journeys of warm behinds.

That’s the factory 40th anniversary color. Wanted it to stay matching. So looking forward to heated seats

Yeah, heated seats are nice. I don’t care for power seats though. I wonder if there has ever been a manually adjustable seat with seat heaters in an OEM? Probably, but it would be a little strange if it was built this side of 2000.

My Jaguar has the same cupholder! (4 ash trays though)
EDIT: didn’t realize there really was a cupholder there. I found I can jam things between the seatbelt and the console like that in a pinch.

I generally prefer manual as well but these are what I had

I mean I would never notice the extra weight and they aren’t prone to breaking but they take longer to move when I clean my car. No strong preference but I do prefer manual adjustment.

Those look great, congrats! I know it’s been a long time coming.
When I drove a couple of Cruisers at a somewhat shady dealership, they seemed to specialize in recovering the front seats as a decoy to all of the deferred repairs it needed elsewhere.

lovely! Redoing seats can so dramatically change a car.

I love it. Jealous!
If you don’t mind me asking, what did this cost? I know it’s in my future someday...

My place quoted me at 1500 for both seats entirely from them. I bought these covers from a land cruiser supplier for 750 and the labor was about 900 (quoted at 600).

$1500 seems solid. Thanks for the info, and enjoy the new throne!
