If there is a fire near you post here and give us a bit of an idea of your current situation.

Self status: still smokey, but safe.

Here in Vancouver, Wa the Big Hollow fire has slowed since the winds died down and they seem like they will have it fully contained within a day.

My biggest worries are for the people to the south of the river with much larger fires. But with cold, wet, south westerly moving air on it’s way I’m hoping it pushes the fire back towards the already burnt areas and away from populated areas.

Remember, stay safe. Your belongings can be replaced, you can't!

It’s pretty normal here in utah. Fires but in control and the smoke was cleared out by our mini hurricane

Well I’m far from the fires, but the winds have pulled the smoke to the puget sound. It’s pretty gross outside, they're saying not to leave your house this weekend. The AQI in the town my wife works in is over 200 today. Haven't slept in days and my chest hurts. I can smell smoke at night even with every window shut. Can't imagine what all those people who've lost or abandoned their homes are feeling right now.

AQI here has improved to 219 from 220 at last check. No fires in my immediate area, but several homes lost within an hour of me. Might not jog today, waiting for this muck to be cleared out.

Last night I re-routed the intake for my HVAC unit to use air from inside rather than outside - it creates a negative pressure issue, but this way I can still use AC (it was smoky and in the 90s here yesterday, no fun).

I’m right there with you. We closed work early yesterday in PDX, and I didn't even make it in today before getting called off. Air quality was close to 350 at one point early this morning.

Air quality in the Bay Area horrible but I guess standard for the West Coast at the moment. Luckily I’m in San Francisco proper so no worries about being approached by fire (at least this year... so far ).

Very smokey. Haven’t gone outside today, and even with my ghetto air purifier set up in the bedroom I still woke up to a sore throat and the smell of smoke.  My main concern is that my team is out making deliveries in this stuff.

west of Ft. Collins CO, the cameron peak fire is 104k acres and 4% contained. But, since we had the rain  and snow and cole weather monday night into tuesday its been highs of 40-50 with continued scattered rain/snow showers. Working on structure and point protection. although 4% contained, it appears they have a beter handle on it, some room to get ahead and maybe stop the spread to critical areas.

So much nope. I would never live in the west coast. Forest fires, earthquakes, rising costs of everything, Portland, California causes cancer, etc.

I’ll stick to hurricanes, 100% humidity , alligators, and cheap (thats going up too) housing.

Western Oregon

I was evacuated early Tuesday morning at about 12:30am. Still in a hotel, still don’t know the status of my property. I have seen video from around my house and there are burned houses and house that are fine. There have been multiple reports of looting, but the National Guard is up there patrolling.

Visibility here in Eugene is down to under 1/2 mile because of smoke and you can barely see the sun. Air quality index is around 500 which is their worst I have ever seen.

If you want to look up my town search for Blue River, OR. I lived about 4 miles from the town.

My homeowners insurance is covering two weeks of a hotel. USAA has been a dream to work with under the circumstances. I am actually looking for a house to rent for a month or two here in town no matter what. Even if my house is fine I don’t think the area will be livable for a while.

We are hanging in there. Thank you to everyone for the kind words and sorry that I can’t thank everyone personally. I will be checking in periodically.

I am extremely fortunate to have my window open right now. It’s been the best weather we’ve had in a while. I can’t even imagine not being able to go outside because of air quality.

I’m about 15 miles north of the O regon fires, AQI between 400 and 500 varying by the hour. My eyes are watering inside and everything smells like burning. Thankfully with current wind direction and natural barriers, I am not directly threatened by the fire at this time.

The snow and 60 degree temp swing put a serious damper on the fires in western CO. Skies are clear here after weeks of haze.

Hometown is under threat of evacuation with surrounding areas already ordered. Not a threat to me, but my family has property that’s threatened if the fire jumps the river.

So far the complex is 15 miles from town and 726,000 acres, the largest in Ca history.

Kinja'd!!!

Today drove 250 miles from the top of Ca to the Bay area and back. T he entire drive is smoke on 101, some areas you can look directly at the sun. An area near Willits had fire retardant around  and evidence of fire directly up to the highway

That has got to be nerve wracking. I'm not sure how you do it (of if you do it). It's just so 2020 in all the worst ways. I know myself and plenty of other Oppos have been praying for those affected by the fires.

Seattle, WA. Poor air quality and a light layer of soot on things. The house is closed up, and we have fans going so that at least there’s air moving. No running tomorrow, and probably not Sunday either.

SW Portland area, AQI is 572, it was over 600 earlier. Temperatures in the sixties. Chehalem Mountain fire is about fifteen miles Southwest of us, 70% contained, no deaths or houses lost, three barns lost. Ever yone is praying for the rain that is expected on Monday.

Personally safe but coughing. MIL house, property and animals all destroyed. Escaped with minutes to spare, literally just her purse and her dogs in the car. She’s at a friend’s now and tomorrow scoping a rental for the next couple months. Keep her in your thoughts please!

Utah’s relatively hazy today. The hurricane-force winds we had earlier in the week blew a lot of crud out of the air, so we had a couple days of clear skies.

Thankfully the f ires near LA are all up in the mountains away from me, but they have closed both my favorite driving roads which is sad. That said, we are safe, a little smokey, and ash covered.
