The Scout is sold.
I listed her last night for $2 k and had 6 people lined up to come look at it today before I went to bed last night.
This is strange to me as I listed it for $2500 last fall and got nothing but tire kickers and people asking a million questions.
She’s still in my driveway but I have the cash and he has the title and keys. He’ll be back with a tow truck this weekend to pick her up.
The guy bought another scout this week and was initially looking for parts, but this one is good enough he’s planning on just rebuilding them both. He also showed up in a sweet black 500SL Convertible.
You’ve been an interesting project you giant scout, but parts are a pain in the ass to find and you required more body work than I was willing to give you.

The story was not what I expected given the headline!

It’s that new Bronco hype

That is fair - after I typed it I realized it could definitely come across as getting rid of the giant asshole in charge, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Could be, or the pent up folks from our pandemic looking for projects.

Scout-Bronco Syndrome. I don’t know why these are so hot right now. But, hot they are.

Poor guy. Now he needs twice as many parts vehicles. He’s never going to win.

Yeah, it's a problem. Not mine anymore though!

I feel sorry for these people. It's a tough project and so many parts just don't exist anymore.

2k is cheap any way you slice it though.

yeah. exactly.

At $2k, I’m going to say “NP.”
Are you thinning your holdings?

That’s why my dad sold his back in ‘01. Had two totes of spare parts that he had been collecting for years. Always working on it. Fond memories riding in it as a kid, but told me decades later he regretted trading his econoline for it (think, the REALLY OLD econoline).

$2000 is kinda low for a newish rav4

Yeah it seemed a fair price but low enough I didn’t have to negotiate.
Yes I am thinning the herd. It, my Mazda and one of my bikes is going.

Yeah it's an interesting and cool vehicle but so many parts are really hard to find or just don't exist anymore. For example the heater core. This one has a heater core from a mid 00s for a Taurus as it was roughly the same size.

Ha!

Price it to sell and be done. That’s my modus operandi .

Yeah that’s the strategy I’ve done with most of my stuff and it’s worked pretty well . Put it at the low end of fair and yeah you still might have to knock a bit more off, but a lot of it just sells at that price.
