You might be thinking what’s so special about it.
Well, I have a thing for old magazine
advertisements
. In fact,
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Well, I realized that I didn’t have an ad that pertained to the my actual car. I had been on the lookout for an E90 M3 dealer poster for a while, but haven’t been able to source one. So, yesterday, I started the search to see if I could find any period E90 M3 advertising.
That’s when I cam across !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! from back when I was in high school 2008.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
In it contained a clue where I could find a period ad, by clue I mean it said it was in the Economist magazine . Exact issue was a bit ambiguous until I came across this:
Which if we enhance, we can make out a date on the first page:
Barely make out that it’s February 23, 2008. O ff to eB ay it was. Sadly there was only one on eBay for $18 plus shipping, but I offered $10 plus shipping and they accepted .
So next week we shall see if I got a winner!

I have done the same for birthdays. Nothing like giving a buddy a Penthouse from August of 1975.

When I was in high school, more than a few years prior to that, I was obsessed with The Economist . I remember one field trip to downtown Indianapolis where I discovered a news/magazine store (anyone remember those? sigh) and grabbed the latest edition to devour on the bus.
I also remember loving The Atlantic , which at the time had a ridiculously cheap subscription. $14 for 2 years, as I recall. TE was dramatically pricier, so it was a rare treat.

I used to get US News & World Report in high school, but dropped it when they got rid of a couple of editorial writers I liked. Never subscribed to the Economist, but always just pick it up in airports - the Just Crichton and King bookstores always have it.

If I was fighting oil well fires, I would probably avoid wearing a metallic watch.

Or their Aunt shoving the last knife into her sister by memorializing her hard body for all time.

What you want is to look at publications like Graphis Annual if you like older ads. Or their current stuff here.

If you have a decent printer and are willing to do some arts & c rafts, there’s a nice one in Esquire.

?? I admit you lose me fairly often with your thought process and/or sentence construction. Or it could be me.

Would you lose track of your mother’s sister posing in a nudie mag while she was pregnant with you. Having to explain to the friend who gave you said nudie mag from your birth month the circumstances surounding it.
It’s called a leap of logic. What possible relationship could your aunt memorializing her hard body + being a real bitch to your mother + a nudie mag from your birth month have?

Might just have to look for one of those, even though I was specifically looking for an E90 one.
