I would argue that they’re building a city out of glue. The wood is providing the fiber, but it’s the glue that is holding everything together. Without the glue, the dimensionally-stable plywood stable wouldn’t be possible. Eliminating the shrink and swell caused by temperature and humidity changes is fundamental to making wood a feasible material for these types of buildings.

There’s a big push in British Columbia by the wood industry to promote wood frame construction. Local building code has approved 12 -story wood frame construction which is crazy in my own opinion. I’m sure the engineering is sound but jeesh.
