The Bozeman XJ isn’t officially sold so it’s not impossible I’ll end up with it, but it’s unlikely. So, dumpster diving I go again.
(Thanks to boredalways for doing the heavy lifting for me in previous searches. You rock.)
Don’t miss the very last FS item. Seriously.

I’m not sure how problematic it would be to add power steering for my enfeebled back, but the real problem is I want a fully-enclosed vehicle...but I still want this J10.
Once again, the PNW gets all the cool toys.

If this one had a title, I’d seriously consider making an offer, after a few underside photos anyway. Anyone have any thoughts on getting a new title for an out-of-state purchase?

The next one is on the CP side but it’s intriguing. Appeals to my inner caveman.
If nothing else, buying from California I wouldn’t have to wonder whether it’s missing a muffler and catalytic converter like the last two manuals I checked out in person. And look at all the lights dear heavens you could blind someone in the daylight.
Do we know anyone in San Diego?

I include this one just for the comical lift. 8”! Don’t take those roundabouts too quickly.

And this one just because it’s beautiful omfg.

Cape Cod, I’m sure this one is rusted all to hell underneath, but for $500 does it matter?
https://capecod.craigslist.org/cto/d/plymouth-jeep-cherokee/7185156868.html
I should probably give this one a closer look, but it doesn’t give the warm fuzzies.

Jumping to Facebook, which ugh...
This one is fairly interesting. I definitely like the color, and it looks relatively unmolested, but no real details provided.

Too pricy, but “willing to negotiate”:

This is an intriguing option: 2wd only, but that’s a solvable problem.

And finally, the deal of the day: a 2-tone Cherokee for $5k. Sold as pictured, apparently. Green/gray.

I think that was a stock option. Seen on the Twister J10

Haha, that last one.
That J10 reminds me that all the ones I’ve seen for sale have been surprisingly cheap. I saw this one several months ago and it still makes me happy to think about it.

Seems like the price is about right on that red ‘94. But I’m not going to be able to drive to Redmond to look at it for you.

I find your lack of commitment...disturbing.
Know anything about missing titles?

I’m not sure what’s up with that J10, but my completely stock ‘83 Wagoneer with the 258 I6 absolutely had power steering. No AC, but that’s what vent wings are for!
The Cherokee Chief in Orlando looks damn good, and I’m surprised they’re not asking more. Kinda glad I’m in the opposite corner of the country, as it’s wildly appealing.

That 79 CC is beautiful. Looks showroom clean. I wouldn’t mind owning that beauty

Yeah, I have to imagine there’s some catch on that Chief. But it’s nice to fantasize about.

I came across this too.
1999 manual 5 speed 2 door 4.0L FWD Jeep Cherokee XJ FOR SALE OR TRADE
I have a Black ‘99 2 door 5 speed for sale with 260k miles on it. The body is in great condition, kept in a garage for most of its life. Upgraded swede headliner, Kenwood sound system and LED headlights. Beyond that it’s pretty much stock. Working A/C that blows hot and cold. Despite its mileage it only calls for new bearings and brake pads. Also one of the window motors is not working, But I’m sure it can be easily fixed. Lmk if you are interested and for pictures.
Looking to sell or would trade + cash for a 96-01 XJ 4 door automatic with 160k or less miles in good condition.
Crap... it’s on reddit though. No link or whatever.

Thanks, replied. It never occurred to me to look there, too.
So many places to look, so few manual XJs to find.

Dude on eBay countered with $1,900. I don’t know what to do now. LOL
I snapchatted my coworker with a car lot to see what he’d give me for my equinox....

I have to admit, I’m not sure I’d be ready to give up ever passing someone on a two-lane road again.

I don’t do as much country driving, and when I do I’m in the van hauling the family as well. Most country roads I drive are fairly twisty or not long enough to worry about passing.
It’d be a game over in a RHD though.
As my dad always said “Those double yellow Lin’s are there to keep you safe, not from having a good time.” As I’ve grown up, hell no I wouldn’t pass on a double yellow unless it was a stopped school bus... lol I mean tractor or slow and low.

If the missing title is legitimate, then you just order an extra copy when you register the car and not a big deal. If not, then keep looking.

None of these look like they would get good fuel economy. So clearly what you need is this:

Or you could get the Patriot... which is very similar to the 1980s XJ Cherokee in size. And the more square body means it has a bit more interior space.
