Like seriously, w hat the fuck is that? The build quality and overall design was cheap and shitty, it was worlds more unreliable, and did I mention how horrendous it looked? The E38 looks so much more sleek, muscular and handsome than that amorphous blob of a vehicle. Not even the facelifted E65 looks better than the E38. The only good thing to come from that gen was the Style 95s that my car sits on right now. Everything else, both pre and post facelift is just one big two pack of ASS. /rant

E38 short wheelbase sport pkg is the pinnacle. My dad had an E32 735 when I was probably 9-10 years old which is really what turned me on to the their cars in the first place. Still, not as pretty and not as powerful as an E38 . E65 to present you can keep...

I passed on a Royal Red E38 manual swapped a few years ago and always wonder...

BMW fans debate whether the peak 3 series was the E30, E36*, E46 or even E90.

Pretty sure there’s zero debate about the 7 series.

*E36 is great candidate if you ignore the whole S50 controversy anyways

My uncle has his E38, he just never wanted a different one after it. His is silver. He does have have a new X5, his E38 is like new.

They were all very good for their time and different with each gen but in a good way. They’re all on the same level of prestige and greatness and in the end the one you’d choose to own comes down to personal preference and tech requirements and all that, one isn’t really better than the other in terms of driving experience though imo

There is some debate in the 7 series community between the e32 or e38. Everything else is never spoken of.

I’ve grown to tolerate the E65, but I know multiple people who legit collect E38s. And a in’t nobody out here collecting E65s.

I always forget the E32 because I never see them anymore. That was the first 7 series that I drooled over - specifically the 750il.

The weight and complexity grew with each generation, but they all had great character. I’m a little biased since I’ve owned an E46 for 20 years now, myself.

Im not sure, the transmission swap on the one I drove was done by a local shop. I knew some people that knew some people that knew of its existence.

He wanted more cash than I had at the time and it wasn’t a car I loved so much that I’d take out a personal loan to covet the gap.

I’m a huge Chris Bangle fan, an a bit biased being an e90 owner., but I do like the Bangle 7 too. Altho the z4 coupe is the best thing he did. Or maybe the e61.

Quite the opposite for me. The front and damn near everything else is horrible but the back is the only barely tolerable thing there, that said it's still pretty bad

E90 isn’t bad looking, and if I had to choose an angle on the E65 it would definitely be the back. The rest of the E65 is complete dog though, as well as the 6 Series of the time. All in all I greatly prefer pre 2001 BMWs over post even though towards the end they started to get much better but that's just me

The 6 was a swing and a miss. But the old shark nose 6 is pretty much the only good looking one.

I love older BMW, but I also like almost everything up to the last like 5 years.
