New, overpriced tabbed Ni-MH cells which were supposedly cheaper from eBay than Amazon prime shipping - $15
Solder flux that I didn’t actually end up using - $15
Finding the same toothbrush on Amazon for $30 but the warm fuzzy feeling of saving the planet from more e-waste due to planned obsolecence - Priceless
Yeah, I rather pay for all this, Braun/Oral-B.

I dropped the one I had. The case broke when it hit the floor. There was n o saving it...

Yeah I had another one I got for free from a dentist, that one used regular AA batteries. Cap broke on it and there’s no saving that one either. This one surprisingly survived a lot of abuse, I just toss it around.

I received the fancy one with the display built in years back as a gift and did the same when the battery died. Sadly the seal where the post exited the housing failed not long afterwards and it ended up filling with liquid.
Now I just buy the cheap version every few years.

Yeah this is the cheaper one. Construction was pretty simple, just one twist cap with one O-ring gasket. They even give you the tool to open it up, but it was intended for recycling, for snapping the brush in half to recycle the battery and chassis separately.

I didn't think that was a toothbrush at first.

Nicely done! Always a good feeling when you repair something not designed to be repaired.

Funny thing you did this. I was just looking at my toothbrus h yesterday and wondering what it would take to do a battery replacement. Good work.

I should do this with one of mine. It only has like a five minute run time these days. I replaced it for daily use, but I keep the old one around for travel as the new one doesn’t support 220V.

Hm, I shou ld take my cordless beard trimmer apart and see what kind of battery it takes . Doesn’t last nearly as long on a full charge as it used to...

Had one of those a very long time ago, went back to a manual brush after but i just bought like 2 months ago a new electric one : a Xiaomi Mijia T100 for less than 15$ including shipping, does the job fine and still haven’t got to recharge it since i have it (it has a micro- USB plug at the bottom behind a lid) .
