Well, a medium for power storage, anyway... I imagine these are a tad flat. A good friend of mine and I got to talking about RC cars recently, mainly about the fun times we had running the cars we had as kids. We still have them, and it’s been at least 8 years since we ran any of them - probably longer . New batteries are probably a decent and relatively inexpensive first step - neither one of us wants to throw too much money into any of these cars for how old they are .

Mine is an MRC Ironman from sometime in the late ‘90s, similar to the picture above . It’s seen some use over the years, but I seem to remember its in decent shape. My friend has two - a Team Losi and a Team Associated something or others from around that same era. We used his more, and I seem to remember that they show it.

When we do get these up and running, I’ll have to share some pictures.

From experience with an early/mid-90s MRC buggy, by now the plastic is very brittle. Everything will break when you hit bumps/walls/etc.

That’s definitely a concern of mine. The later ones seem to be better, but I guess I’ll take it easy to start with and find out.

Tesla might have longer run time, but IIRC Tamiya had better build quality.

Be careful.  I can’t even find parts for my Losi Mini LST from 2006.

Yesssss. I have my losi xxxt and my dads jr T in the basement that are just itching for new brushless and lipo batteries.  I’ve seen refreshes done for little under a $100 to go to  the new running gear.  Once I get some other projects out of the way, I’ll look at what it will take.

Nah, the Tamiya were not made to race, too much plastic.  The Losi’s and RC10s were where it was at.

Parts availability on these have been dodgy for quite a while.  I was never one to run it hard, and I intend to continue that.

My Traxxas is plastic and that thing is definitely made to race. It’s too powerful for it’s own good - although going to a brushless motor might have had something to do with that.

Good old RC10. I always wanted one. Seemed like a great platform to work on and rebuild when you eventually ran into an object at full speed.
