Literally.

Two boats sunk at two separate Trump boat parades this week.

I hate seeing boats sink, especially ski boats. At the same time, I’m enjoying the parallels here. Don’t fix the problems wally, just keep on the throttle. No! Don’t get up! Everything is fine! Thankfully no one was hurt in either.

The 2nd capsized boat rescue

“Leave your bags it’s not worth it.” Fi rst  thing he hands him is a backpack.. I guess it worked out in the end but c’mon.

I was thinking about that.  I mean, they were no longer in danger, and if the bag had critical items like documents and such...I don’t see the harm.  Generally I agree with “forget the stuff”, but if its handy and important and you aren’t in immediate danger, why not?

Yeah, I think he said why he needed it but couldn’t understand it. And again, it worked out so whatever it was just a bit cringe.

If you enjoy boat failures I recommend Qualified Captain on instagram. I never knew how often people sink their vehicles while trying to launch a boat until I found their page.

We were canoeing the north fork of the flathead, my step dad’s boat hit a submerged rock, porpoised and started to take on water. H e paddled that boat to shore and by the time he got there the stern was under water. It was a very memorable and hilarious experience. We just emptied out the gear, dumped out the boat and continued on our way.

The first one is local to me. To be clear, the people whose boat sunk were NOT part of the Trump parade. They were just innocent people enjoying the water, and the wakes from the parade sank their boat.

That’s certainly a great analogy for all this bullshit, but not one I find any pleasure in.

Also related, I saw the Trump truck parade ( that has been all over the news due to the shooting that happened afterwards) on the freeway this weekend, thankfully I was going the opposite direction. So friggin obnoxious. Caused massive traffic jams, huge flags, people in the beds of their trucks (yes, on the freeway) yelling at passing cars and just being super belligerent .

This is all getting so out of hand. Right to free speech, protest, all that absolutely. But should you be going to other communities you don’t live in to antagonize them (with pepper spray, paintball guns, etc)? Isn’t that the same lawlessness these folks are claiming that the “extreme left” are participating in (where yes absolutely there are vandals who take things too far - but in general they’re actually protesting something and directing their protest at the folks in power they are trying to influence) ?

I’ve never seen a boat sink myself, but I’ve taken on a lot of water over the bow on several ski boats, its not hard to do it you are a big dummy. If you know how to boat, its pretty easy not to do, even it pretty heavy seas.

Once though we had someone visiting our place and he put his boat on the beach for a big storm that came up, bow in.  The waves swamped his boat from the stern and drove it pretty deep into the sand.  He had to have his engine rebuilt.  Out boat was at anchor in about 6 feet or water and suffered no ill effects (though it was somewhat common to find the swim platform floating on the beach after a big storm)

Even our 20' G3 river boat has a bilge pump. It’s not that hard to not sink a boat.

102 out of 175 people arrested in Kenosha were from out of town.  People are bored with everything locked down.

That’ s how I understand it. Sad that it took out their boat just for being around a mess like that . Now I will say I’ve driven a dozen inboard ski boats over the course of 25 years and while it’ s easy enough to take water over the bow, it’ s pretty hard to let it sink from that unless you were completely oblivious.

That kid who killed two people with his AR-15, the 17-year-old? Did he fire the first shots of the Second American Civil War?

Maybe they left the drain plug out. My inlaws did that once and they took on quite a bit of water before they figured out a solution. Not sure what that solution was...

May very well be true, but there are plenty of novice boaters out there on the water legally. Not being a pro shouldn’t be a sentence to have your boat sunk and passengers potentially drowning.

That’s what I thought too. You know they’re not going to help you retrieve the bag once you’re safely on the boat, so it was an entirely rational decision to my (ignorant) mind.

Where I’m from you just call the Coasties and they come get you, Oahu is only about 45 miles long so they can get to anyone fast in an H- 65 choppah.

Perhaps - but if you’re a novice that can handle the Willamette just fine on a regular day (and it truly is quite empty and very mellow most of the time), and suddenly are faced with dozens of MAGA boats blazing past you out of nowhere, I don’t blame them for not having expected this and not knowing how to deal with the situation. It’s not like these fools are being orderly or courteous in any regard on how these boat rallies are held .

I guess I should be clear that I find blame in the Parade camp on that one, Im just disappointed in the sunk boat’s captain.
