You’ve somehow made the next S-Class more bland, boring, and generic-looking than the previous/current model.

I always liked the rear end on the current S-class....

The S has always looked generic

I can see these already stacked at generic European used car lots with typical names like, “Exotic Sales” or “Euro Platinum Diamond Sales”. A plethora of 2-3 year old Mercedes, BMW 5-7 series, Panameras/Cayennes, Ghiblis, a Vantage, 2 old Continentals and that one random Gallardo/California. The website and business cards are full of LaFerrari and Bugatti file photos lol

It was cohesive with the front end, and both ends look more opulent and ornate than the new one. Over-teched interior aside, this one looks like it was phoned in.

Someone needs to P hotoshop a Genesis badge on it.

That may be so, but this new one is even more so.

The S Coupe is a really fantastic looking car. The sedans are handsome but hardly “passionate”

I can't wait for the current generation S-Class to go down in price a bit more and secure one. They are definitely nice, and have a perfect level of technology.

Genesis could make a better looking car than that. It looks more like a 5 year old Genesis than a new one.

Is this one just a refresh, or is it a whole new car?

Don’t you mean geriatric?
![]() 09/02/2020 at 11:46 |

Yes.
(But actually, it’s a whole new car)

The design convergence of the standard MB sedans, the Genesis sedans, and the Accord is starting to feel even more awkward.
(At least the Camry broke free of this curse).

Why did you photoshop a Genesis front and an Audi rear end onto an E class?
![]() 09/02/2020 at 12:10 |

The last-gen C- class looked way too much like the S, so at least this creates some separation between the two.
Until the next C gets a refresh, that is.

its bad that there isn’ t really anything that makes one stand out over the other as the newer car.

At least they resisted the temptation to put an upside-down “all our cars shall now look like AMG GTs” grille on it.

If one didn’t know, they’d think it is just a W222 facelift. I wonder if any body panels or glass interchange, would be funny.
I really dislike the new rear lights on the facelift E/”new” S, appear to be cribbed from any random Asian brand.

HAHA yup. Copart cars rebuilt as cheap as possible.

Squinty headlights are the new hotness according to Mercedes.

That’s depressing.

Weird thing is, I like how it looks on certain models. The A, CLA, and CLS make it work because they’ve got angular and sharp headlights up front to match the rear.....And this doesn’t. But the tailights by themselves are very KIA/Hyundai.

Very. At least Porsche does less depressing things than MB.

I can see that, those designs have some angularity. As you say, the S isn’t so angular, neither is the facelift E, which also has similar lights . To be fair, my wagon also has horizontal lights, but being a wagon it almost has to, as the pre-facelift vertical lights wouldn’t fit.

better looking than BMW shit these days.

You’re not wrong, but I’m not sure if that’s fortunate or unfortunate.
