Here’s an experiment... Digital Lego birds. This is the first, and it’s a Blue-winged Mountain Tanager. Is this something you’d be interested in seeing more of?

This was made in Lego Digital Designer 4.3 , for anyone curious.

I thought we were to be rid of you.

Yes and no. That was my plan, but I was surprised by the amount of free time I had today, so I decided to do this. Next week when my classes start assigning more work, then  you will be rid of me. Except maybe on weekends...

Yeah I thought you had decided to resign from your cushy Oppo side gig. So it’s more like a one week notice?

I’m an architecture student and, like the old adage goes, I don’t sleep. E V E R ! I definitely need to spend less time on here but I’ve been forced to ration my free time to be able to stay connected on this platform. It’s not as though there is much other connecting to be done with Mr Corona lurking somewhere out there. *gestures vaguely*

Well, since I’m at a Christian college, everyone here is very social and friendly, so I feel like I need to at least try and have a social life with the people around me. That’s part of the college experience. So if I end up having to decide between spending time with fellow college students and spending time on Oppo, my fellow college students win. Of course, weekends and such may be a different story, so basically I’m not 100% leaving Oppo, but I’ll only be checking in occasionally from now on.

Weekends here at Georgia Tech are dead on campus as the few people that aren’t sick with COVID (well, frat members who aren’t sick with COVID) are out partying in midtown. Week days are too busy to socialize outside of involvement with an on campus ministry. And the occasional online game night on the dorm’s discord. It's been really hard to branch out into new friend groups even for an outgoing guy like myself.

I’m happy for you to have the opportunity. Since Arch is such an uncommon major most colleges don’t offer it and Tech is one of the most prestigious around for that so I got that sweet sweet state full ride scholarship. It was a no brainier. I personally wanted the big city atmosphere but I understand the appeal of smaller colleges. I’ve got lots of friends at Berry College which is the largest college campus in the world and you really feel the distance (I think so, don’t quote me as I’ve only been there once for a b ball tournament). They drive to classes. Here, rid ing my bike is barely worth it for the distances.

I’m attending Northwest Nazarene University, and we’re pretty lucky in that our labs have all the right equipment to test the whole campus for COVID once a week, so we can still do a lot of things provided we social distance and wear masks. Hope you find more friends soon. At least architecture is a really cool major, in the future you’ll have to show us what you do with it :)

Yes, we also have no t -quite-mandatory weekly testing for the whole campus. But the school has done everything they can to get the frats to stop being hotspots and unsuccessfully. I don’t think they’ve been testing much either. You would not believe the lengths they’ve gone to to dispell stupid rumors about what they do to the people who test positive. You just get put up in a nice hotel for 2 weeks. That’s it.

There are so many things you can do with an architecture major. I’m learning all about the iterative design process right now which is a peculiarly difficult thing to teach. I’m having fun though.

Never heard of it but the acceptance rate is no joke. Do you mind if I ask your major? I see you’re in stats so did you get some sort of state scholarship? I’m riding that sweet sweet Z ell Miller train into free tuition station.
