Hit a large pothole headed out to the coast and blew the tire aswell as bending the rim. The cars on Doral something or others from the dealership, they aren’t good and the local shop wants $100 a piece to replace ‘em. (30-40% markup)
Still usable but this was the excuse I needed as the rims already curbed
So its getting 4 new trusty Federal 595ss, to the tune of $300 and 1 new rim. $550 later this will all be cleared up.

That sucks. Even a reliable car demands your sacrifice.

Oh well. You drive an awful lot so I guess it's just probability at this point.

Damn that’s cheap. Just put 4 new shoes (Michelin P S4S) on my car earlier this week and it set me back $1200 without wheels.

That was one nasty pothole, but hey at least you have a couple spare tires and new much better ones on the car, right?

Dayum, that must have been a big one . A few years ago I drove to a $300 consulting gig on a construction site. Nails in both rear tires. 19x10 :(

All the performance sizes past 17" seem to cost a fortune

Cant imagine the disappointment, where you able to patch em?

What car? I think it cost me about $1100 to do all four corners on my M3.

Could be worse, it costs me $500 to just get a new rim when I popped a tire back in April.

only one and it blew shortly thereafter. 2 PSS and one used wheel. The gig paid for the wheel haha.

I have the 460tw “all season” 595s on my Golf. They’re absurdly grippy for a 400+ treadwear tire that cost less than $250 for the set (195/60R14).
Warning, they might be great on hot dry roads, but oh my god do they suck in the rain. They suck suck suck suck suck suck suck. So bad. They slide so bad. But you’re in California, so they’ll be fine.

Ugh, that stinks! If you’re going to be driving on that spare for any decent distance, swap it with a good one off the rear.

Nor cal so we still get rain or drizzle half the year, I was pretty happy with them on the Mini. Based on how greasy these are on damp roads I think the 595's will be okay....until a deep puddle

Better in the dry about the same in the wet, but its okay. Didnt spring for nice Michelins because wh atever tires I buy will be gone withing 15,000 miles regardless of price

I was about the say the same thing. On a front-driver, the fronts do ALL the work of going, turning, and stopping. You want as much rubber up front as possible.

When we get a bit of rain, I just spin and slide everywhere, and brakes lock up super easy
. It’s nearly dangerous. However, mine aren’t
as wide as yours nor is the car as heavy.

Check your psi too, I noticed they were only effective at a really low pressure. For the mini its was low 20's and a few less in the rear

VW says to go 33 in front, 39 in back. I might try airing them down a big. But with as much sidewall as I have, it might not help.
