I see one or two a week that are still in great shape cosmetically and aren't sagging. Always driven by old folks. I think they just keep fixing them.

I think they dump the air suspension in favor of coil springs.

While I agree with you and the validity of doing so, my experience with old folks that have vehicles religiously serviced by the dealer would lead me to believe they’re still riding on air.

Many older folks go to independent shops once the warranty period expires, since they are on fixed income. They would prefer to $60-$ 100 off the labor rate a dealer charges. T ypically these shop will recommend the lower cost and less problematic remedy to the issue.
My parents, aunts, uncles, grand parents, et c. all did this. The older folks in my neighborhood too.
