Meanwhile, my Volvo is choking up when running on LPG. I have a vacuum leak somewhere...

Yikes. Is it bad enough that it needs urgent attention?
Do you have Volvo specialist shops in Croatia? I think you told me they are very uncommon as they are all gray market imports. There is this Swedish specialty shop near me that is so good I take my non Swedish cars there and I probably have saved some money doing so.

It’s not too bad. When the engine gets up to temperature, when using
the LPG fuel the car makes hiccups, like you’re letting go and quickly giving back gas.
It gets better if you have a light foot.
Since the car still runs - and I live pretty much in the town center + I don’t need to hurry, I’ll take my time to figure it out by myself/with help from friends. The cost of professional repairs vs risk of having the car non-running for a week or two is in favour of my own repairs. I would go to a professional if I had problems with brakes or something more serious within the engine. Stuff like this I can hopefully figure out.
I’m thinking of investing in a Haynes (or other) manual for the car. Do you think those are worth it? I never had a manual for a car (This or my previous Twingo).
I tend to google whatever the problem is and I most often find solutions online...

Okay, so a minor annoyance that you have the time and skill to solve yourself should make a fun weekend project. Professional repairs are, when actually done professionally, quite pricey usually. It largely depends on the complexity and severity whether it is better to do yourself.
I have heard mixed things about Haynes. They are like $20 here but I don’t know how the exchange rate impacts that. I think it could be a helpful thing to have but I would always fact check them. I'd go for it so you don't have to bring your phone under the car with you to keep pausing a tutorial video.

The Haynes manuals aren’t bad (WAY better than Chilton, at least for Yurpean stuff), but they weren’t necessarily written for well-aged vehicles. I’d still prefer to have one on hand than not, because a hard copy works 24/7/365, whereas internet access may not.
I’d be inclined to visit one of the forums like https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=1 or https://forums.swedespeed.com/forumdisplay.php?9-S70-V70-amp-V70XC-(1998-2000) because odds are, someone out there has had your problem.
You’re probably required to join in order to search the archives, but I’ve been a member of those & others so long, I can’t recall.

The practicality side I like. And it’s a pain to deal with a smartphone with oily hands...

Ooooh I see now. I used to search like this, without access. This might change things, I’l sign up. Thank you. I’ll also look for a deal on the book.

No one cares if you get the pages a little oily. And all the common stuff is pretty well covered.
