Humdrum is in the garage for an oil change and that power steering leak . Hopefully I’ll be hearing good or bad news about that leak in the next hour or so...

In the meantime I went for an hour walk while I wait while it’s still cool...it’s supposed to be a high of 40C or 41C including the Humidex today...joy of joys. It’s around 25C now!

Here’s a picture of the local Michelin tire plant I just walked past while on my outing ..

Morning. Looks perfectly, um, industrial? All those snow tires might as well be manufactured close to where they are needed. Hope Humdrum gets fixed and stops leaking.

I think I am pretty spoiled in terms of places I can walk or ride a bike to. All that will change soon though when I am on campus in Atlanta.

Humdrum is fixed! Oil change and the power steering leak was, luckily, one of the metal pipes running to the rack that had rusted out right at a bracket....$165 later and she’s good again!

BUT....he pointed out that my front-left outer CV-joint boot is split and flinging/leaking grease....so I had to book another appointment for next week (coincidentally on my birthday) to get THAT fixed for an estimated $150....at least it’s not the price of an entirely new CV joint...

The idea of having done so much rust repair on such a low mileage vehicle is entirely crazy to me. But just think: it is almost always more economical to fix a vehicle than sell it while broken. Those repair bills hurt, but at the rate you are going you could keep Humdrum for a long time to come. Just more room in the budget for 126p shenanigans. And getting your own place.

Substitute teachers are heroe s for doing what they do at the kind of salaries they get. Just my 2 cents. So are your schools going back in person?

Well, like I said to mom when I got home - the power steering leak could’ve been a rack and then I’d be out like $1300, but it was just a pipe.

...and the CV joint can be saved rather than having to spend more on a whole new one, so I ave money there too. So, despite spending money I don’t really want to spend when possibly getting my own place soon, it could’ve been a lot worse!
