It’s the start of a new week, and I’m still waiting for the future we were promised.

All of the auto designers back then must have been from the north. Anyone living in the south could have told them a giant clear bubble would never work in the s outh.

My wife’s Civic has a sunroof, but we never open it because it’s too damned hot. I only open it at night, which is actually pretty nice.

Let me see Detroit is where again ah that's it. Checks out. And can confirm that that looks miserable. With my aircon on full blast I still sometimes sweat just from the heat coming in from the untinted windows.

The best time for a sunroof, t-tops, or a convertible in the south is on a cool summer night.
Our Outback has a sunroof. If the car has been sitting on a hot summer day, I’ll open the sunroof to help flush the hot air out of the car. After the car has cooled down from 1,000°F to something closer to ambient temperature (~100°F), it gets closed and covered.

This fact check reminded me of one of the cars of my childhood, a 1982 Chevrolet Celebrity. The car knocked mercilessly under most driving conditions in Cincinnati. The only time my parents found it didn't knock? On the flat roads of southeast Michigan during a vacation there..

But nighttime convertible driving, oh yeah that is just fantastic!

Coincidence? I think not. . .
Automakers test their cars in more than just the roads surrounding their plants and testing grounds now.

The Cybertruck factory is coming to Austin. Within hours of the announcement (and probably before) shovels were in the ground. I can’t believe somebody got paid to design that.
