That seems solid enough to use as a framework for some bond o action. I'm impressed.

Just leave it as is, I would.

I’ve been known to do something similar but not on a vehicle and with less zip ties.... depending on the brand they used here, that could likely be quite spendy with the quantity.

I’d have probably used pop rivets and applied a patch of aluminum flashing. But I think they did a fair dinkum job here and they could always hit it with rattle can white. But it wouldn’t stick for more than a fartin’ spell...

Gaffers tape would have been much easier.

Initially, perhaps, but UV and moisture would destroy it quickly.

Them there are known as "drift stitches" and this is a fine example.  Though a master would have gotten some X action in there for load spreading.

I think I’d have pop-riveted a patch of aluminum flashing.

Drill bits. I’ve decided that for my general practice, the 1/4 hex base make the most sense. But I can’t find a set that I like. They want to sell you a set that goes up to 1/2" and I want a smaller set. And with the slots labeled. Looked at Lowe’s and the Despot so far. Time for a deep dive into Amazon.

Can't help you there. I like standard round shank drill bits.

Yeah. Just tool talk.

Interesting screw story:

I’m tightening up the chairs in my daughter’s dining room. I’ve been swearing by Hillman Torx (TM) drive screws for years. Copper-colored (which coating fades rapidly under UV), et cetera. I went to the Despot to buy some and they carry SPAX, which I also swear by for flat head, Phillips drive. I bought the SPAX answer to the Hillman screws and boy, are they s**tty. Flimsy and the SPAX answer to Torx has like a button on the bottom to make sure the SPAX tips do lousy in anything else. So the screws and the tips are going back to the Despot this morning because $9.50/bx and they suck. But I’ll stick with the SPAX for the Phillips-drive, shorter stuff, and the Hillman for the other. Interesting how Lowe’s and the Despot compliment each other.

There’s no convenient Lowe’s around here, do I almost never go there. I’m currently mad at Home Depot because they screwed me on two separate curbside pickup orders. I’ve bought everything I’ve needed at ACE Hardware since then. Next time I need something they don’t have at at Ace, I'll go to Menards (Midwestern chain, like Depot, but they stock more building materials). For wood I found a proper local lumber yard finally.
