Washington state assigns default plates with three letters and four numbers. They started with AAA and are working through the alphabet. An acquaintance of mine ended up with this.

A mutual friend of the G550 owner and me is Bavarian and owns several BMWs. He got his plates around the same time and missed “BMW” plates by only a few weeks. Let’s just say that he wasn’t happy to this this plate on a Mercedes.

Definitely not something appreciated by that German sense of humor.
I recall in maybe early 2014, the “AMG” prefix was issued, and the Model S was especially trendy then - seeing those with that plate always amused me.
