I’ve just returned from a really nice vacation at my in-laws lake house. Last year I posted about how !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! dancing with my one year old daughter to Otis Redding’s “I’ve got dreams to remember.” This year we were having lunch on the boat and it was Cat Steven’s “Father and Son”. So now I can start putting a mix together “songs I adore but never want to hear again”
This is an 80% submerged Mastiff
Anyway, we were only on that boat because ya boi is a master mechanic/electrical engineer.
JK My FIL hooked the battery up backwards and blew every fuse in existence and completely melted the wires attached to the tach because no fuse....When he brought me out to look at it, the battery was hooked up correctly, but the ground lead to the console was attached to the positive terminal!
It’s a pontoon boat (2006 Sylvan Mirage). It has a bunch of circuit breakers on the console but none of them tripped, and the tach was hooked up through one which obviously didn’t do it’s job.
Anyway, I replaced all of the fuses (cut out the one for the stereo because it has two and I didn’t have an extra for it). Then I removed the tach, laughed and looked for new ones....$130! Ok, maybe we try to fix it first. I snipped out all the melted bits, made a new harness and the MFer works!!! I couldn’t believe it. I should have taken a pic as this thing was MANGLED.
Love that feeling right!? Like, “HAHA fixed ya BITCH!”
It was also nice to flex on my brother in-law who loves to talktalktalk about the right way to do things but is in reality, a lazy buffoon. He was in the middle of telling my FIL all of the things that needed to happen to fix it when I came in from fixing it...

My introduction to this song was during a break when I was doing some voiceover work for my employer. It took me several minutes to recover, and I was still giggling randomly throughout the session.
Still makes me smile uncontrollably.

Big time fans of Andy Samberg/the lonely island in this house. If you’d like a feature length version of this song, please watch “Popstar. Never stop never stopping”

I started watching Brooklyn 99 this spring, and thanks to your reply I’ve finally put the pieces together on who Samberg is . I’m pretty culturally clueless.

I’ve had this go both ways on watercraft. Mine are driving me nuts been working on them for 1.5 years on and off (issue of not being able to water test all winter is a major slowdown) Tearing a part a fuel pump on one this week and rebuilding the twin carbs on the other this weekend possibly....but a guy at work brought his in for having a “high idle”.
O ne adjustment to the throttle screw and it was fixed. took me 15 minutes. He just wanted to sell the thing and with the high idle didn’t want to ask more than 800 bucks. He was also afraid the engine was blown. If it was I was going to take it off his hands for 3-400. Once I adjusted it he sold it for 1200 bucks in one day.

Boats are a cruel mistress. I for one, have been extremely lucky on the reliability of mine. I have had to replace one fuel pump at ~$400 though.
We run ours a ton, which has admittedly helped in the reliability dept.
Now, if we’re talking fuel consumption, that’s a bank breaking nightmare, but we don’t need to talk about that.......

I like being able to contribute to whomever s got the boat when I’m invited out on one. e.g., I’ll bring beer, money for gas, and wash the boat after if it’ s a salt water situation, but I’m kinda into not actually owning one.
Kicking around building a small sailboat however.

small, hand built bo ats are rad.
As a boat owner, I can tell you that the gas money or cooler of beer is greatly appreciated.

You’d get both because vehicle lovers know how it be for other vehicle lovers. It be expensive.
I don’t even mind the extra work of fixing or cleaning . 3 pals and I drove down to NC to visit another friend in Wilmington right before we all had kids. He’s got a brand new boat and took us out. The 4 of us cleaned that boat inside and out afterward in less than an hour . He was like, “Guys, this is so nice, seriously this usually takes me 3 hours.”
And we were like “ whatever you nancy, beer please”

May I request all of the Mastiff content? It’s for advertising purposes for my spouse as she is not convinced that we need another. I’m a huge fan of the brindle as well. Beautiful pup and a job well done on the boat!

She is an absolute love, I was never around mastiffs until my pregnant wife insisted that we get a Gigantic dog.

Just the ammo that I needed.... the Missus just requested puppies/doofy doggos after seeing those! I love the brindle pair of Mastiff and Boxer. We’re in NC, do you have an east coast breeder that you would recommend or a rescue organization ? We rescued a middle aged Bullmastiff right before we got engaged that hooked us on big stinky drooly puppers .

We got her as an 8 week old 20lb puppy haha. She was a little bear cub. I will ask my wife if she’s got the breeders info.

Haha more bear cub than puppy I suppose! I’d appreciate the info if you’ve still got it.
