No need to insult farmers like that.
These people are complete idiots. No wonder the US is #1 in infections. The inhumane part of me is completely fine with it wiping out the less intelligent part of the population. Unfortunately the rest of us also have to suffer.

Is it incorrect for me to have a visceral avoidance reaction to every LSU popup tent I see?
Between college tailgating 20+ years ago and every beach trip I’ve taken as an adult, I feel like this reaction is now second nature.

Everyone rags on farmers until they need to eat.

I’m going to go ahead and cite this video as a reason I don’t like beaches.

It’s ok. If a majority of people assume farming is for simpletons to work themselves to death while not making any money those of us who are good at it and business minded have little competition.

I’m glad we have that. I never assumed the simpleton part, but I’ve assumed the not making any money part.

Replace farmers with suburban drones - no doubt these kids are the coddled devil spawn of Karen and Chad.

Unfortunately, these people Covidiots are like drink drivers in a car incident, they have the ragdoll effect which increases their chance of survival in a car incident over a sober driver in a similar incident .
Though while you can’t catch or transfer alcohol intox ication, Covid is very much the opposite, so while they are fine, it’s those around that suffer.

But then you have some revolutionaries who want to make a “workers and peasants republic” then focus on the workers and ignore the peasants.

On one hand, this planet DOES have an overpopulation problem.
On the other hand, this is getting dangerously close to supporting eugenics.
Moral quandaries like this require more hands.

To be fair, the not making any money bit is very much a reality a large portion of the time. One succeeds by being in it for the long run, being able to weather the bad times and being efficient enough that the good times outweigh the former.
Right now, for us, not making any money is the reality as both our largest costs (feed) and our income (pig sales) depend on commodity markets, which fluctuate. The pork price is low, in part due to COVID effects on processing capacity as well as usual market pressures (oversupply, etc ) and feed ingredients aren’t cheap (corn, soybeans mostly but right now wheat shorts are making up an inordina te portion of the feed cost).
The processing backlog is easing and the sow herd is being reduced in places but it will take time to return to profitability.
C’est la vie.

Don’t even get me started on MY solutions to the planet population problem. #ThanosWasntTotallyWrong
I only need three things to fix all human based problems: t o be invulnerable, to be immortal, to have ALL nuclear launch codes.
Farmers aren’t dumb, everyday people are dumb. Doesn’t matter where they come from, a dumbass is a dumbass.

Well, I’m off to Costco and hopefully, they’ll have the pork tenderloin that Mrs. Vandura and I enjoy eating. Do I remember correctly that you are in Canada?

That looks like a beach, not a farm.
And rural people certainly have no monopoly or even majority stock holdings in commodities like idiocy, buffoonery, ignorance, and stupidity.
How has urban and suburban life been going this year?

My grandfather was an Iowa farmer all his life. Dairy, livestock, and grain.
He used to say lots of things... but one more relevant to this is :
“
Farmers are the only ones in business that normally
pay retail for their
materials, and then
sell their
products at wholesale”

I’d say there are very few farmers that are “simpletons”. My FIL was a farmer and those dudes have to know EVERYTHING. Botany, land management, soil erosion, business, mechanics, meteorology , etc.. We were on a long drive and as we passed different fields he could ID what was growing, how well it was doing, and what the farmer was hoping for weather-wise for the rest of the growing season. It was quite amazing.
There is also a ton of fuck shit that goes on in farming with cartels/monopsonies (not a misspelling) deciding which farmers that processors will buy crops from.
