So there’s still some mess, and boxes of parts for the Eagle and the Rampage on the floor. But most of the stuff I wanted permanently off the floor has found a home. Next updates should be car specific!

After mitigating some acoustic issues and locating/permanently fixing the speakers in place. This is about only place with bare plywood walls and random interesting stuff hung on the walls I’d happily sit down and have a drink in.
Edit: Just noticed the bare unprotected window directly above workbench. So a few garage warming gifts would be presented before relaxing.

Speakers have since been attached to the shelves with screws (probably can’t see in the pics, I just mega zoomed in and you can see the front screws if you look REAL hard) and the shelves themselves are attached to the studs with #10x 3” screws. The 2 broken hand planes, and that chicken up there are screwed down too (came from my grandpa’s little wood shop). Each bracket is rated for more weight than that entire shelf and both speakers. I could hang off it and maybe get it close to the rating on the smaller centre bracket.
The windows are definitely pretty “ weak” old single pane glass. That’s one of the reasons I arranged the benches in their current order (much to my annoyance, as it required moving electrical around) ; to ensure the drill press and bench grinder have something in between them and the glass, and that the vise is offset from it as well. I might eventually put bars over them... but theft in this area has been more of a “ nobody locked their garages for 50 years ” scenario . I’ve also considered nabbing a piece of lexan to protect the glass itself. I tend to take sparky stuff outside if possible... but yeah, lexan is probably in the cards. I’ve been unemployed since April; we’re doing fine, but staying on the thrifty side of things for now. Hence the not having new overhead doors yet. Might grab some tracks for protection curtains to go around the trailer and whatnot once I’m employed again. Then I only need to drive the car out to weld.

I trust you. Without too much gory detail; HS dropout and recent hire as closing employee at local BK took advantage of minor dining room construction project occurring during middle of night to undo safety chains and reposition approximately 40 lbs commercial quality speaker nestled in beams along outside wall barely above one seat. Buddy comes in for breakfast next day and plops down against the wall hard. Every breakfast paid for or in process of being eaten was refunded. Dining room was closed and hygienically sealed off from kitchen until evening.

know there was a security camera that after review caught both willful acts of deception sufficiently to prove guilt.
When I noticed the glass my first thought was more along the lines of prying with a screwdriver, undoing something with a spring under tension, or other oh shit moment sending a small object winging off ceiling and walls. Don’t take my attempts to give your garage a hard once over as a vote of no confidence. I do really like the garage and everything vehicular related in it.
Best of luck on the job front.

Was good advice to secure it. I stared at it the other day and thought to myself, “yeah... it would be responsible to secure them to the shelf. *Huff*” and then did so.
Thanks about the job front. I’m in Canada so I’ve been suckling on the CERB EI monies. I’ve been employed since being 11 and never taken employment insurance. I’m looking for work honestly, but not going to take shit work for shit pay. So am enjoying summer!
