Nothing ends an autocross faster than lightning. Got 4 runs in the morning and then after lunch we got enough rain to stage a regatta in the parking lot. It was a biblical raining sideways in curtains sort of affair.
Unfortunate, I generally don’t start pushing until the afternoon when I’ve done enough recon to be comfortable with the layout.
The plus is that I did get to play with my new toys.
OBD Link is a neat tool. Pulls a ludicrous amount of real-time data off the ECU. Ties into TrackAddict app perfectly for logging some additional data.
With the Ram Mount I wanted to see if an old phone could work as a gopro and data logger. The mount is pretty solid. People use it on motorcycles at highway speeds so I figured it would stay in the car. Works flawlessly with the included safety tether. No complaints.
TrackAddict for some reason didn’t record my last and fastest run so here’s an earlier one to see the video quality and course layout. (Phone is a Nexus 6P, so nothing too special for the camera). Didn’t turn out as shaky as I was expecting, not a bad experiment. Probably should still get a gopro though.

What a bummer, that was a good layout too. Was looking forward to more runs in the afternoon

The kinky bit in the middle was pretty crazy tight, I hit a cone there on one run. Other than that I can’t complain, it was definitely interesting. I was sitting on a 42.2 with hopes to get into 40.x in the afternoon. :/
I’ll have to check out the Finger Lakes in August. Car needs more room to breath than the speedway bowl can provide.

Not nearly as bumpy as I’ve experienced with phone mounts, must be a decent one! I quite like just using my dash cam and syncing it to race render. By far the easiest setup rather than worrying about a go pro battery and all that.
My sound quality is pretty trash though due to wind noise in a convertible. Could be of value to do an external mic on the rear of the car, would get more exhaust sound anyway.
