I tried to figure out what this was and what exactly is going on and I found this page which doesn’t really help me figure it out.

Everything I can find on the english speaking internet gives no answers and more questions.

It’s basically flat track racing without the dirt. It’s one of the few (only?) forms of racing where Harley twins are the dominant form. The bike that won that race is a parallel twin, but was purpose-built for their version of flat track. It’s going to be hard to beat it on a flat oval with a regular sport bike.

This is awesome. #5 was a rockstar.

Am I to assume they’re running in a single gear for most of the event?

The speedway bikes used in E urope look pretty similar to those in your picture. I guess they use the same set of regulations. But during winter season there’s also ice speedway. In here t he last winter was pretty louse though and I think the whole racing season was cancelled.

Hockey rinks make good ice speedway tracks.

Homeboy in the yellow jacket layin it down!

I’m guessing this was an exh i bition to show that a flat track motorcycle is, in fact, faster at flat tracking then bikes set up to excel at other things.

Thats wild! Is #5 wearing football pads? How does a 70s looking bike with an upright rider go faster than a pair of sportbikes? Also, how thick are the soles of their boots??

Cool, doesn't look like the bikes are built to the same specs, and dude on the old school bike looks to have football shoulder pads on, but all very competitive.

Less weight is the great equalizer for one thing, so he can maximize momentum. And the #5 was built specifically for that type of racing. Look at the handlebars. When leaned over, the handlebars are level..crazy stuff

D idn’t notice that about the bars, you’re right. guess the bike’s purpose built.

Also, some of the other comments showing ice racing are even wilder!
