Got the most important garage equipment setup! Only gold I own is on the wire plugs... gonna pick out some fun fabric and remake the left speaker cover (probably redo both).
Speakers mounted up high. Finally off my workbench.
Amp is mounted upside down and recessed. I’ve also decided after looking at 240 outlet covers I prefer my wooden ones
so I’m k
eeping them.
The Eagle’s winter tires are mounted up on the wall, well over my head so I can always walk around a car.
More to wall- mount, but thought I’d share.

A few thoughts.
Speakers don’t appear to be physically secured in place when they very much should be. Instead of bracket and shelf I would consider the option to cover both bases by securely hanging them from the ceiling using multiple lengths of chain apiece securing them from top and supporting across base of speaker without obstructing cones.
Does amp vent to rear of chassis?
Those plywood outlet covers are amazing. Glad you are keeping them.

Amp vents out it’s top and bottom and rear. I left the feet on it so it still has an air gap and even when cranked I’m at 50% of its max output. So should have a buffer there. Was also free and probably 10+ years old when I got it 10+ years ago. I did have it powering 5 speakers at one point in its life. It’s in mellow retirement duty now.
The speakers have rubber feet that I migrated from their bottoms to the sides (now bottom), they were free and decent quality and loud, but not
especially “
special”
speakers. If they vibrate around too much I’ll pass a screw or two through the shelf into their cases. They’re garage quality units that be surviving -30°C winters.

But does it go up to 11?

Well done! I’m a huge fan of putting the most seldom-needed things in the hardest-to-reach places, to clear room for more frequently needed stuff. Not only is that a good position for speakers to broadcast from, but they’re also not taking up valuable workbench space. An d those wheels! Yup, y ou’ll need to get to them about as often as you’ll need to access Christmas decorations . Good choice, prioritizing some decent walking space . You’ll be glad you did this.

Sadly it does not. It shows volume in some numerical audio format I don’t understand. The smaller the number the louder it is. I suppose I could look up a manual for it.... but yeah nah, that seems like too much hassle.

Levels of playback creating vibrations is not the concern. Large heavy unconstrained objects over your head that could come down following any unplanned moment is. A moment that with any luck never happens in order to prove the wisdom of a few moments spent securing them properly.
Really give some thought to how simple removing a concern that could harm anyone or anything that happened to be nearby is.

I see that frequently on larger sound systems too. Almost looks like a negative value.

Yeah, seems like louder equals more negative... meh. All I know is one way is louder, and one way is quieter. I’m not enough of an audiophile anymore to care. I just listen to music because it’s better than quiet. Plus all my industrial job years (even with hearing PPE) have really lopped off a lot of my higher end and lower end frequencies; that and being 37 hasn’t helped. The ol’ Yamaha amp is a big girl. Was meant to power a set of surround sound and another set of speaker (simultaneously if wanted) , and had hookups for phono, tape, VCR, cable, sat, CD, DVD, AUX, AUX 2 and a bunch of optical ins and outs . The transformer inside it is as big as my fist.
