ESPN had a 30 on 30 about the USFL that covered Trump’s influence over the league.  I came away from watching it thinking that if wasn’t for Donald it had a chance.  Probably never be a true rival to the NFL, but could of had a decent run with spring football and being the shorts and t-shirt version of professional football compared to the NFL’s suit and tie approach.

That fits with what’s said in the article. One USFL owner is quoted as saying that they were seriously mistaken in following Trump down that road.

If he wins a second term, yeah they will probably try stuff like that just to keep his voters on their side . If he is a one term president they will drop and distance themselves  from him.

Politico has done some very good work. They got one of Trump’s cabinet secretaries ousted early in the regime because of their sleuthing. Guy had done a bunch of flying around on private jets at government expense.
