Pretty sure Tulsa (City) is going to enact one soon. It is sad that personal responsibility (and care for others) isn’t sufficient to get the vast majority of people to wear masks when distance can’t be maintained.

All Walmarts are going to start requiring them on the 20th - hopefully most other big box stores follow suit.

Up here (Southern Alberta), Costco gives the out for free at the door, and has a huge sign asking people to please wear one. And even with that, only half the people are.

I can’t imagine Walmart requiring masks will make any difference.  Their customers who aren’t wearing one now still won’t wear one after.  And their employees won’t enforce it.

Texas enacted one a week or so ago, surprising from a Republican governor, and tacit admission that he totally screwed up the reopening. It looks like things may have been improving a bit, but we haven’t yet seen all the numbers from July 4, and that may well explain the latest spike in this graph of Travis County.

Our “patients in hospitals” number is dropping in the last few days for our county , so that’s hopeful. The confirmed cases number has always been a screwy one with this virus, considering how many are asymptomatic - clearly you don’t want it going up (or want your percent positive really high), but tracking the hospital admissions seems to be the better metric (shows serious cases, and is a leading indicator of potential deaths).

I think the most important metric is the number of positives per a number of tests. Deniers like to say that the spike in numbers is due mainly to more testing, but the reality is that the percentages of positives per tests is going up. So yes, we’re testing more people, but the ratio of positive to negative is climbing precipitously.
