After cleaning

It isn’t perfect, but having red tail lights is certainly better than spray paint darkened ones. I’ll keep on the lookout for a cheap clean set in junkyards going forward. Used a mix of carb cleaner and various fine grits of sand paper and polishes to clean them up.

Not a great image, but you can see the painted tail lights

I also bought new tires.  Nankang NS-25s at Belle Tire, for under $300 mounted after tax I can’t complain about them not being “brand name. ”

Next steps are to fix broken exhaust hangers and determine why the speedometer gets stuck at 55mph when you’re driving 30mph and why the tachometer works when you tap the top of the dash.

Pollen got you down? That’s some suitably crusty dust on the Crustang.

I didn’t mind the tinted/darkened taillights, but they look quite good cleaned up.  Nice job!

They’re really highly rated by people who own them from what I can find online, I only have 10 miles on them so far so I’ll reserve my judgement. For the price though my expectations are very low.

My friend got a set of their R compounds. Think the with exchange they’d be $100 a tire. They hook up pretty well for the price.

Cheaper solution than buying brighter bulbs to make up for the tint!
