It’s basically the perfect starter bike I’ve been looking for, it’s like new, and it’s in my budget. If only I had some way to go get it and bring it back here.

Although I bet it’s already gone and they just never flagged the ad as “sold”

I had a 650 nighthawk for a first bike and it was an absolute hoot to ride. But a few words of caution - the brakes will be spongy and hard to find replacements for, nighthawks in particular have infamously poor charging systems so get a battery tender, and just a heads up, they made the nighthawk 250 up through the 90s that will often be a bit newer and easier to find parts for than the older nighthawks

There’s also the nighthawk 750 which was also a 90s bike, but it has a good whallop more power and speed. If you’ve been riding scooters for a while, you should be okay as it doesn’t have a brutal delivery, but it will definitely do 100mph with relative ease.

As far as getting it home, r ent a pickup or van from Home Depot / Enterprise / Uhaul (depending on distance).

Can’t help much with the other part (it being sold). But I’ve resigned myself to selling my CB-1 and if you were closer to DC (or could get it home)  I’d make you an Oppo deal.

The nearest HD or Uhaul is as far from me as the bike is, and it’d be an extra $200 ferry ticket to get it back on the island

I have a truck tlavailable to me, and the ticket would be cheaper since it’s registered to an island resident, but this time of year you have to make reservations at least two weeks in advance.

I have one of those sitting in my storage (an 86). It’s not in nearly that condition though. It was well beat when I got it, and it hasn’t fared much better since. I should probably do something with it.

Yeah. It’s busy despite the many travel advisories. If I were to try to make a reservation now there wouldn’t be an opening for a few days and it would be a weird time or I might not get a return trip on the same day

It's not generally too hard to live with, you just have to get used to the fact that you can't do any spur-of-the-moment travel. Everything's gotta be planned.

The off-season isn't too bad. The boats are never usually full so you could make a reservation for the times you want as close as the day before
