Wife’s family is in Florida, we’re a potentially high risk family, just buy this for a couple trips then sell it for what we paid? Or end up stranded in Georgia?

I’m always hesitant about buying from someone who doesn’t bother to take photos, but otherwise I have no idea. Certainly that seems like a very reasonable price.

7500 doesn’t seem too bad. The lack of interior pics is worrying.

I mean, the price doesnt seem too bad. but its painful how depreciation hits these things

No interior photos? My imagination is running wild.

That seems REALLY cheap for what it is. I’d have to wonder what level of work they consider “a little TLC”. If you’d like to visit the in-laws without risking hotel rooms, this sure seems like the way to go.

You know what they say about buying used luxury cars? It goes doubly so for used RVs and campers. They need the upkeep of both a vehicle and a house.

Gotta be near the bottom of depreciation, right?

Its truly terrifying, but this has to be near the bottom?

I want nothing to do with it, but a road trip or two and cash out when this is done?

I have zero clue on the value of these things, but I think it all comes down to the condition of the inside.

This goes one of two ways: he has no idea how to sell, or someone was murdered in there

oh, certainly
. worst case you have a small campsite you can stick in the woods, pull the engine from the van and sell that.
Its just
STAGGERING
how bad it is. This van was at LEAST 96K new
https://www.thormotorcoach.com/build-price/product-builder-steps/?p=10008
now granted, its not as bad as a high end BMW or Mercedes
that will see like 30K a year depreciation for the first three
or fou
r years...but even an 05 S class is still like 15K. not SEVEN.

No pics, limited description, and needs ‘TLC’. I’d be wary.
TLC = Transmission, Leveling suspension, Calipers

That would be my reasoning. If it’s not immediately ready to fail then send it and hope your family wants to send it too

My dad bought a good RV for $3000 so this isn’t too far out of the norm. Go check it out, nothing to loose if you don’t buy it.

I keep trying to convince my wife to do the same. The biggest problem is parking one at our house. There’s just no room. Parking at a local storage place throws the economics off.

That's how much a Class C from the mid 90's should cost. The "little TLC" is likely water damage and a severe lack of maintenance. RVs will snowball fast without proper care. I'm on my second one. It's a pain in the ass but worth it if it's what you want. I wouldn't trust that for a long road trip.

Yup. I think we could stash it somewhere, but I’m not thrilled with the idea. My wife is the impetus here, and she makes good points . Our daughter has celiac, and this would allow traveling with our own kitchen. I’m just not into spending money on this when we’re trying to save to build a new house.

This is one of those instances where leveraging your cash might make sense. If you can get a loan, then finance it. You only put a little down and the rest is leveraged. You make two or three payments, use it for the summer, then sell it. Even if you don’t get the same price, your total outlay is still less than staying at hotels. That’s assuming it doesn’t need any updates or repairs.

Let us know what you find. Take p

unnecessarily gross or illegal stuff

. There’s gotta be a reason the price is that low.

Eh, maybe. You're guaranteed to have to spend some money on it to make it last through two road trips, so don't think you'll be able to get out clean. RV's are built like hot garbage, so this is 15 year old hot garbage. It could have serious water damage and mold at that age.
