1986 FC RX-7 N/A

I’ve owned the car for about two years, looking for something new. Just testing the waters, will sell for the right price. The car has seen better days but is mechanically functional. It is gutted but I have all the interior panels. Still has the original 13B in it. Poor documentation from the previous owner, engine was rebuilt at some point. Willing to consider trades for manual coupes.

Pros:

ISR Coilovers w/ less than 100 miles

New wheels/tires w/ less than 100 miles

Hawk Performance Brake Pads

Slotted Stoptech Rotors

Stainless Steel Brake lines

NRG quick release hub and steering wheel

New shifter bushing

New hatch struts

New NGK leading and trailing spark plugs

TII brakes

TII side mirrors

Cons:

Sun roof is stuck

Oil leaking from the pan

Only the speedometer works

Previous owner straight piped the car - exhaust is in questionable condition

Passenger door does not open from the outside

Paint is in bad condition

Parts of the car have bondo on them where the spoiler and antenna were deleted

No radio

“T esting the waters” almost always seems to mean “I want too much for this car and I know it.” Which... I guess it is nice to see some self-awareness from people but still.  A lot of the time you can ask “too much” for the car knowing that there is someone who will pay it because it is the perfect car for them.  This is not the perfect car for anyone.

On the other hand, I feel like when someone asks an obviously silly price for a pile of junk, they send up a flare to me that they are not a person of reasonable judgement. It’s a big, red, “stay away” flag that hurts their chance of useful responses.

At what point do things like this (RX7, Supra, ITR, etc.) get extremely expensive just for rust free shells like the muscle cars from the 60s have?

If this was a 69 Camaro SS in an identical condition, it would be worth 10-20 k.

Obviously, this isn’t that, but will it be someday? An d if so, when?

Craigslist needs to come up with some sort of autocorrect system for listings. It seems that there’s a flaw in their systems that keeps putting one extra zero in the price of almost every PoS project car that gets listed.

Yeah I really don’t know. The shell should be in very good condition with a complete and serviceable interior. The FC has a very solid chassis and body so they tend to last longer than the rotary engines that lay within.

Move one of the 0's from the end up front and make it a 1, then mayyyybe to use as a track car after you rebuild the engine because that “oil pan leak” is probably the dowel seals.

FC RX-7 prices are getting absolutely retarded, and it pisses me off.

Like 5 years ago, if you tried to ask more then $5k for a clean Turbo-II, people thought you were insane. Nowadays, the only ones that sell for less are clapped-out N/As, and a clean turbo will set you back over $10k.
