It’s the “feels like” temp that gets you. And tomorrow is forecast to be nearly the same as today.

I think you’d have better results if you baked your state leadership in a solar oven instead.

94 here 14% humidity. Won’t be washing the car. Too lazy after small neighbor party last night. Will be watering my little patch of lawn and flowerpots when it starts cooling down tonight.

Two or three years ago , all new ducts, added second duct in vaulted living room. Before the upgrade , the unit ran all day long. Now it keeps the house very comfy and goes on and off as it should.

54 degrees Celsius...feels like 90 degrees Celsius. That temperature would blast right on by the Australian all time maximum of 50.7 degrees Celsius, recorded at Oodnadatta in South Australia.

Pretty typical, actually. We can expect a streak of 100+ in August. Those streaks are getting longer, and happening earlier. This data is from August of last year.
For comparison year to date triple digit highs in previous years:
2018 - 31 to date | 52 total
2017 - 29 to date | 42 total
2016 - 17 to date | 24 total
2015 - 8 to date | 24 total (First 100 was July 27th that year)
2011 - 52 to date | 90 total - the record!
This year’s hottest temp: 103. Last year’s hottest: 110! In 2011, we had a streak of triple digit heat that began July 17th and didn’t end until August 12th! That’s 27 straight days of 100s!
We average about 14 100-degree days per year (period of record dating back to 1898), but more recently, that number has been much higher. The average over the last 30 years (1989-2018) is 27 days of triple digit heat. The most ever (90) happened in 2011. Last year, we had 52.

There are two official thermometers in Austin. One is at the airport on the south side of the city, the other is at Camp Mabry, about five miles north of downtown. It’s generally a few degrees hotter at the airport, and they’re saying it’s 100 right now. I won’t be going outside until the sun goes down.

I had to run a quick errand a couple hours ago and my car said it was 105. Now it’s black so it lies in the summer but I very much regretted leaving the house in the middle of the day.

And here I was thinking the ~90 here today with like no humidity was hot (have no AC but swamp cooler keeping it about 80 indoors) . Downright pleasant in comparison!

huh? The NWS says it’s not even breaking 100. Am I missing something?
BTW if you want a really good cross checked weather readout in real- time, check out APRS.fi. These are weather stations that are linked via the amatuer radio frequency. I’m finding their data really handy .
Click on any “WX” station in blue and it will give you a quick read of actual conditions and if you click on “show weather charts” you get some good reliable history.
The nice thing is that there are many weather stations so if one station’s figures don’t feel right you can cross check them with others.

Official readings are from 96-100, depending on what part of town the thermometer is in. This was just a glitch in the matrix. Note the wind speed is North/0. Pretty sure the station is klangfarbened. Tanks for the link. I’ll check it out.
