A vintage clothing store in AZ has decided to take a no BS policy against anti-maskers:

Kinja'd!!!

Say what you will about your “freedom” and the usefulness of masks and your ‘rights’, whatever those may be, but I applaud this store owner for taking a strong, albeit somewhat harsh, stand. Maybe making it somewhat personal will wake up a few people (but I won’t hold my breath.) As in so many things when part of a society, it’s not just about you...

My only complaint? They need to tighten up the spacing between the last two pages to make it easier to read and look  less like there’s a pause between them.

Not a lot of people are wearing masks here in Lethbridge. As of last night, we had six active cases on our side of the city - about 30,000 people.  I was the only one I saw wearing a mask when I grabbed a few things at the hardware store this morning. It's frustrating trying to set a good example.

As I casually said to some yahoo that called me a ‘ sheep’ for wearing my mask - “I’m doing this for you, not for me”, fully knowing that he wouldn’t understand and without evidence would  probably accuse me of admitting to being a carrier (to t he best of my knowledge I’m not, but knowing that the asymptomatic can transmit the disease I wear my mask anytime I’m out in public).

I never imagined Americans would go so far down this route in this situation. These asshats always talk so lovingly about WWII and veterans, well guess what, the people back then would wear masks and do whatever was needed to get through it. I was embarrassed with Drumpf alone and now it’s just so bad I have a hard time believing there are that many stupid people out there politicizing a pandemic. I guess it will take people they know dying, will that even be enough, these people get lower by the day.

“to sell your dead grandmother’s clothes”

This is why the non-radicalized left finds the radicalized left to be a bunch of insufferable douchebags. I fully understand how that kind of behavior can be considered acceptable within certain groups, but by excusing that within your own community, you’re conceding to accepting racism in someone else’s.

As an aside, I went to a store this morning with a sign at the door stating “no sick people” - though that was amusing.

Speaking of dark humor, interesting that so many recent hot spots are in areas where people and leadership have been resistant to precaution. Weird.

I got my motorcycle safety inspection yesterday, by which I paid the $10 for a sticker, and tipped the guy $5 as I would have anyway, I forgot to put my mask on the bike, so I skipped the DMV part of the trip. I went today and they are closed in observance of the holiday tomorrow.

Damnit I said.

Target was still low on Toilet paper, which astonished me.

Gotta get yourself over to Costco - they seem to have the TP  problem solved. And yesterday I discovered that the gas prices at the St Peters location are about $0.25/gallon less than I’ve paid down in south county. I may try to coordinate stops out that way with an empty tank to take advantage.

We had a Co sco card for a year. We spent over $200 anytime we walked into the store. We just quit going. We really didn’t need to buy in bulk like that.

That sounds like me and Trader Joe’s. I have little self control when in that place. A $20 visit becomes a $60 visit in no time flat , and usually I  walk out with just one bag. Their cheese selection is my downfall; Dierberg’s may have similar quantity, but you can’t beat TJ’s prices.

Yeah, keeping it under control at Costco can be a challenge, I will grant you that. I’ve had a couple of large tabs lately, but mostly because I was buying some $119 hard drives for people. Yesterday, besides the hard drives, it was just a case of water, a couple of jars of olives and some Naproxen. And gas.

(I hope that’s permanent marker, although that will make it a little tougher for the next-of-kin to resell the vehicle)

The thing is: The same people who oppose a woman’s right to get an abortion, won’t wear a mask to protect their own families and don’t support affordable health care to keep the people who are currently alive healthy.

All they have to offer is thoughts and prayers. Being an atheist , prayers do not help me out much.

We get them here in the U.K.

Government: “Okay, lets invoke the spirit of WWII, they went through so much death and destruction for our freedom, all we have to do is stay inside!”.

Self Absorbed Arseholes: “But I want my hair cut!”.

G: “Okay, things have eased a little, just have to keep two metres away from each other, and wear a mask when in close confines with other people. We can do this!”

SAA: “Why can’t I still get my hair cut!?”

Jesus christ. You can’t invoke the spirit and resilience of WWII and then bang on about not being able to get your hair cut or having to wear a mask indoors in public.

Grand Son: “Grand dad, what did you do during the war?”

Grand Father: “We fought against evil and oppression, we fought for the right to democracy, for freedom, to live regardless of religion, race, etc...!”

GS: “Well were fighting for our lives and your lives now, the way you did, were staying home, protecting ourselves and others to stop the spread of this virus!”

GF: “Bullshit you little prick, your standing on my doorstep with no mask, no gloves knowing fine well I am very high risk of death from the virus, all because you got bored staying home because you feel oppressed having to stay indoors. We went through six years of bombing, losing friends, neighbours and loved ones daily from being shot out the air or in the fields and you can’t stay indoors or wear a sodding mask!”.

EDIT: Sorry, that escalated rather quickly.

It’s simple really: people (or at least Americans) are so blindly stubborn that they’ll follow something (or someone) even if that thing is totally wrong. It’s complete spite, and as an American it’s both baffling and scary to see a nation fueled by individualism so much that everything is either right and wrong.

What a time to be alive...

A bit O/T, but I was reading about the Blitz and came across this. I t speaks to that British stiff upper lip that your government is trying to appeal to.

“Have you ever spent the night in a hole in the garden?” asked a young woman schoolteacher from Norwich. “Well, you’re too damn tired to bother about the bombs. Luckily our soil is gravel so it’s not as bad as it might be but dirt is dirty and full of ants . . . lift up your tin had, as you grovel in the entrails of the earth, and see the Milky Way above you and the searchlights finding the bomber which you can hear, directly above you. Would you think you’d be scared or wonder what was gong to happen–I should have thought so–but you simply try to see if you can see it and it never enters your mind that you might be here, there, and everywhere in about two seconds.”

In Clydebank (a shipbuilding center in Scotland) a woman made a comment that deserves preservation. She had just finished sweeping debris from her walk when she said to a neighbor, “Well, there’s one thing about these raids, they do make you forget about the war.”

Airwar , Edward Jablonski

Costco was a little low when we were there last week. I went ahead and bought some, since things are getting bad here in TX. I think we only recently finished the giant Kirkland package that we got back in March before the Toiletpaperpocalypse.

If there’s one group of people known for their radical leftist ideology, it’s Arizona business owners. She sounds like a real Marxist:

“ Vintage clothing is definitely not an emergency. This is not a reason anybody needs to leave the house right now. It’s not like I sell baby formula or eggs,” said Bingham.”

Ye’, back then they really went through the w ringer but you either fretted and did nothing or you made do with what you’ve got and carried on.

Though the song is from WWI, it was very applicable to WWII.

Some didn’t see the war through the same way.

A colleagues m other went through the blitz in Coventry. On one night in particular, there was a full moon and a clear sky when the bombing happened, until the day she died, whenever there was a clear sky and a full moon, she’d get very distressed and cry.

Another, an old guy but a real grafter who just wouldn’t give up working , a worker at a tannery in Langholm, just north of the border. He was taken by the Japanese during the war and tortured. The tannery was later taken over by a Japanese company and every time they did a visit, they gave the guy time off because he’d panic and run off. The tannery closed about 15 years ago now.

The war really did a number on those at home and abroad.

I struggle with the  issue of abortion. I see both sides.

Serious question: when should a child have the rights of a human?
