And By that I mean we play in French with Alberta’s riches. No trains, no jail, no beauty contest, deferre d utility payments, and everybody gets $2000 everytime they pass Go.

I don’t actually know who wins Alberta vs the world, but I’m leaning towards the world.

You should try The Farming Game.
Seriously, it’s fun (once you get past the pain).

A-boat is the correct Western pronunciation of aboot.

Aboot is more specific to southern Ontario outside the GTA. Where the vast majority of English Canadians live, so it became the de-facto “Canadian accent” It’s actually “ abeauwt” more than “Aboot” anyway. Out west “a boat” in Q uebec it’s “un bateau”

It’s interesting how some accents are so pleasing to the ear and how some can be so grating...
I have a good friend of Indian descent, who actually
grew up in Botswana, and has a strong British English accent. “To-mah-to” for example. She’s a super cheerful and kind person anyway, but her speech is like nectar.

I don’t find the “Canadian accent” grating, I do find beginning every statement with “y’know, back in Ontario..........” Grating. But it’s not their fault, they barely know we’re here.

I wasn’t implying that I did. I have a good friend that grew up in Saskatchewan, and another whose northern Midwestern accent sounds eerily Canadian at times (both women).
Y’know, .................., eh? =)
My friend actually says “hey?
” more than “eh?
”.

The Minnesota/Wisconsin type accent is closer to the media portrayal of “Canadian Accent” And they are adjacent to Canada so this makes sense. My Father-in-law, who lives in New Mexico, and is Sask born and bred had a guy peg him as being from Saskatchewan, by his accent 20 years removed and at a conference in Boston. That’s a good ear for accents. I couldn’t tell what makes a Sask accent, but it exists. I came from Winnipeg, which has a “North End Accent” Which was a mishmash of Polish/Ukrainian/Jewish/Filipino/Metis/Aboriginal all mixed together. I had this as a kid, but I’m sure it has changed with the times and Demographics. My Mom did not care for for this, but it was eventually pointed out that it’s bad form to move to the ‘hood and complain about the way people talk there, i.e. we didn’t talk waspy.

Very impressive.
I grew up in central Missouri and my dad always spoke very properly, so I feel like I’ve got a pretty flat, typical Midwestern accent as a base, but we’ve lived in Oklahoma for 20 years, so some drawl can sneak in sometimes, and I’ll sprinkle in a y’all every once in a while. My 3 kids are born and bred Okies. My daughter definitely has a pretty good drawl that she’s picked up from her friends that I give her a hard time about sometimes, jokingly. I just hope they hold onto most of their “g”s while they’re goin’ through life, and tryin’ to make somethin’ of themselves.

Read the rules very carefully. It does not allow substitutions for houses and hotels. If you only build up all the houses, then nobody can get houses to buy because you used them all and therefore no hotels exist, so you just take their money until the game bleeds dry and you win...by CRUSHING THEM!
