Look at this stunner!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I missed out on the awesome local 6th Gen, and currently the pickings near me are slim. However, I feel like I should check this 5th Gen out.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

And of course, the yellow one is still up for sale. Tempting me. Taunting me. A U-haul pickup rental would run me roughly $240 factoring in the 220 miles each way... Make a little roadtrip out of it... Grab a friend and have them run backup just in case the bike has issues on the way back.....

Dangerous thoughts.

Neat bikes! Love 90s bikes and am partial to the Katanas of that era.

I’ve got a motorcycle hitch mount rack for my expedition and would be game for a road trip down that way if you need. It hauled my 88 ninja ex500 project home a month ago. The picture is from the sellers ad.

It has been a challenge as I keep finding missing parts...and it smokes :(

Note: don’t buy someone else’s project. Where did I hear that before ???

I’d check out the red one in West Seattle. The ad and the modifications made/included indicate a well maintained bike with a knowledgeable seller who treated it well. Don’t discount the value of this in an older used sport bike—which can have unusually hard lives and immature owners—as it may save you from a heap of maintenance and reliability problems down the road. The way the seller set it up as a sport-tourer also gives you a lot of options if you want to use the motorcycle that way, or if you want to recoup some of your investment by selling off the parts. The Givi bags and rack are probably worth several hundred dollars if you sold them, dropping the price of the bike significantly (or funding a yellow vinyl wrap if your heart is set on that color).

P.S. Just re-read the ad; the guy took pictures of the scuffs and is providing a walkthrough of it’s (minor) issues and fixes. Don’t see many craigslist ads that do that. For peace of mind alone I’d buy  the red one and change it into whatever I wanted it to be.

those pearl white plastics on the 93 are pure unobtanium, at least for anything close to reasonable money.

It’s amazing how something that still looks like a late-model spaceship  could qualify for classic/vintage plates.

GREAT price on the 93. I got an 86 VFR700F for that price in much rougher shape and don’t regret it.

Given how preoccupied you are with these bikes, if I were you, I would call the sellers and just make a trip out of visiting them, seeing them in person, sitting on them, and possibly riding them if they let you before you decide.

Start with the least desirable one so you don’t fall in love with it on the spot and drop the cash on impulse.  ahahhaha.

The white one is borderline collector status. The red one is perfect as an only-vehicle option; reliable and with space to carry groceries or camping gear or hiking boots or all that and a tinder date.

Ooh that white one, doesn’t have dual round lights, but for the price and apparent condition, that can be forgiven.

My bike desire is waning again now that traffic is getting back to normal, but those oldies can get me going. Of course, I’d fit poorly on it and would hate any temperamental issues.

Oh God. It's gorgeous! What's ownership been like? Is parts availability an issue?

Ha. I wish you’d gotten to see my Volvos! I learned the hard way about project cars, too.

I'm looking at the local red one tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Lol. When I saw it my first thought was “it doesn’t have round headlights but I bet fintail would dig this”.

Feels like traffic is worse than ever before in some areas. But that can't be right. Can it..?

If I had another vehicle I'd definitely go look at that one, but I don't know if it would be smart year-round only vehicle to commute on

You have no idea how badly I want to load up a bike and go camping. Solo or tandem.

That last sentance of yours tells me that you know exactly how this whole automotive addiction works lol.

I'm hoping some of these people are available to show off the bikes tomorrow

That style pushes my buttons. Those bikes got to me when I was a kid.

DT Bellevue is still OK as so many office workers are still WFH, but I notice SB 405 is backing up again to at least NE 4th by 4pm or so. If  everyone is WFH, where the hell are these people going? I think a lot of people are driving now out of boredom.   I also went to Costco in Kirkland week before last, 85th was like any normal day last year.

I've had it for maybe 10 years now. The electrical regulator/rectifier has been replaced twice and the stator charging wire harness as well, common to that era VFRs. It seems to run a little warmer these days at 30k miles, so I put in a manual fan switch. Overall I can't seem to part with it because it looks so damn good.

I talked to the guy a bit, turns out it had been in his garage for 6+ months without moving. If not for that, I probably would have driven down and grabbed it, but... Red is good too!
