Would you want a sprint car on your tombstone? I suppose I wouldn’t mind a Willys MB on mine.

I like cars, but I don’t know if that’s what I’d want to always be remembered for.

Remember that dream homes show where they built a home for a family every week? Every time a kid would be like “I like pumpkins” then the builders would make a pumpkin themed room, and the kid had to pretend like he didn’t hate it?

This is that.

I’d be just fine with it.

If my life were boile d down to a single, non family related activity I’ve participated in, I’d much rather be remembered for my passion for cars than for my career or my mild dabbling in half a dozen other hobbies.

Having purchased one recently, I can attest that it’s damn difficult to figure out what to put on one.

I’ve done some grade-A trolling at the cemetery where much of my family is buried. We basically take up an entire row and my mom bought two plots at the end before I was married. I guess she was concerned about me never getting married and wanted to save a spot for me. I had her buried in the second-to-last plot. The access roads are one lane and I noticed that people tend to park off the lane - right on the graves at the end of the rows. I wasn’t willing to pay for an extra headstone to mark an empty grave, but I did buy extra corner markers so that people who pull off the lane can see that they are parked on top of a grave. :)

The only way to make a W123 last longer is to literally make it out of stone.

Linden, NJ. You can see the kids name on the license plate, Ray Tse. He was 15.

It allegedly cost his brother $250,000 to build the tombstone.

https://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/10560

It can be seen on Google maps:

Also:

A side note: In 1988, the brother, Raymond David Tse, was indicted on murder charges after admitting he fired 18 bullets at a gang member in his Chinatown office who was demanding protection money at gunpoint. Tse claimed self defense, and was acquitted in 1991.

The first show like that that I ever watched, it was a contest and one of the contestants painted a beach house black. In California. And then they proceeded to make everything inside the house pretty but horribly impractical. The other guy actually put a great deal of thought into making the house a nice place to live as well as beautiful , and yet the jerkface who painted a BEACH HOUSE BLACK won the competition because “it was more artistic”. Wh en they unveiled the house to the family, you could clearly tell that they were desperately trying to disguise their horror. I felt so bad for them... Those shows have messed-up priorities.

I hope that if someday, long after mankind has disappeared, aliens show up and discover this thing, they assume it’s an idol.

I like how they used a LWB W123 as the pattern - while a prestigious car, not the most luxurious or flashy model. Maybe the kid was a real enthusiast.

How disappointing it would be to be buried in something worth less than a pine box.
