The fourth generation Mercury Sable wagon could be optioned with a front bench seat and column shifter. Coupled with the rear-facing third row, this means that somewhere there exists a 15-year old fancy Taurus wagon that can hold EIGHT people.

I like that rear facing seat that slides to give a tad of foot room. My father had a 2nd gen explorer with the rear facing seat but it just bolted onto the floor and didn’t give any foot room so only suitable for pretty small kids.

And all eight of them can share the misery!

The Taurus Sedan could seat 6.
I have 3 siblings, im the youngest. Guess where I got to sit.
I think that “bench” was standard. It’s actually a folding console, like you’d get in most lower end pick ups now.

Clean, but certainly optimistic. And Vulcan instead of a Duratec. These cars are basically worth nothing.

I must admit to being a bit impressed by how much attention he clearly gave it though! Not every day you find a Taurus enthusiast.

I’m virtually certain there are far more console-shift Sables of this gen than the column shift bois. Sounds unpleasant nonetheless.
If it's any consolation, I was always stuck in the middle seat of my dad's Audi 4000 coupe. You ever SEEN an Audi 4000 coupe, much less sat in one? They are not mean for more than two mammals and we would stuff it with 5 daily.

Agreed. And the popping rear glass is pretty boss.

But could you get one with wood grain panels on the side? Seems like the bench seat and 3-on-the-tree crowd would want that

Had 3 taureses and liked them all. Considered an 8 seater when #4 came along but it wouldn’t have room for groceries or backpacks when loaded with people. They are good ergonomical cars.
But the 3rd row is miserable in real life

I don’t care how many it seats, these cars are dogs unless you get the 24v V6.

I did not know. Now I do. Thank you.
Also is this one of the last production cars with a rear facing third row? It feels like it must be, Odd since they were deemed a bad idea long ago ... at least it feels like it was a long time ago.
