It was a hot day to be outside, so after drinking water and tea all day to keep myself hydrated, I went whole hog this evening and poured myself a Coke.
Living on the edge!

Decaf. I’m damn exhausted after spending half the day underneath the Miata dash. Even with the seats out, there’s not much space to get under there.

Love whisky sours. For whatever reason, they seem to really do the job when I have an upset stomach, it shouldn’t work, but it somehow does, better than a Tums.

Almost the s ame exact recipe I use for whiskey sours. Such a delightful beverage.
What’s your bourbon of choice? I personally go for Basil Hayden’s.

I went with Cascade Blonde tonight. I love Basil. We use Tincup, Bulleit, Makers, Wellers... whatever is handy.

Coffee is not a night drink, unless you’re trying to stay awake. Then again, I don’t drink coffee unless it’s in a mocha or a latte, unless I’m in Rome where I have a doppio espresso every morning.

Never tried Cascade Blonde. I shall now be required to seek it out. Bulleit is my standard backup choice.
However, I was out of all bourbon last week and used Pendleton Canadian Whisk y. It wasn’t terrible, but it also wasn’t quite right. I think it’s a little on the sweet side, but an artificial sort of sweetness. Like sugar-free caramel. I found myself using a little extra lemon juice to offset it.

Coffee past midday though, no thanks mate. Had enough restless nights.

I always use Canadian whiskey with mine instead of bourbon, not sure why, just got stuck on the taste, I guess. Personally, I like Canadian Club, its cheap and decent enough to get the Royal Warrant, at least.

Beer (ale to be more accurate). Spent 13 of the last 15 hours clearing out my in-laws house. I rarely drink, but a couple cold beers really are nice at the end of a day like that..

We were shopping for a bottle to take on a vacation when this rep raked us into Cascade Blonde. Surprisingly cheap for how decent it was ($20). It won’t light your world on fire, and honestly, Evan Williams BiB for same price is probably a better choice for cocktails, but not a bad bottle nonetheless.
I like Crown, but I don’t like Pendleton. I have 1/3 of a bottle left in my shelf and it’s been there for years. Just never had a desire to finish it.

I put a specialty drink up earlier. It’s pretty funny. It tasted better the more I had. Previously a Yuengling black & Tan, then that drink, and a dragons milk , and a shot of Jaegermeister most recently along with with the wife who has had her own line up.

I thought pip bip was in states, but I might be wrong.
I always liked how social coffee was back in Serbia - remnants of the Ottoman way of doing things. Coffee in America is just a stimulant in most cases.

There’s definitely room in my heart (and liquor cabinet) for Canadian whisky. For example, if I’ve got ginger ale handy, that’s my go to pairing, in a 2:1 ratio.
I also don’t mind it in an Old Fashioned (although I never seem to have maraschino cherries around and usually have to replace orange with nectarine).

I can’t do Jaeger(usually) . Once, after a day at the beach in Greece with my friends, I drank all the vodka we had, then started drinking beer which I don’t like just to drink something, and after the beer was gone, I had Jaeger.
After that, at dinner, I had... some booze, and then Greek sweet dessert wine. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

It needs to be done. Also, of the folks left my wife is the organizer in the family so it’s much easier for her to tell me where she wants things and it get done. I suppose also last year my father in law gave us (me really) a great deal his Civic he didn’t have need of anymore and I feel like I need to represent because of that. (I keep meaning to write an intro of that Civic)

Jaeger is a root based liquor, it says so on the bottle, or something. It’s gluten free which attracts my wife, but it’s still Jaeger after all and no matter what tastes “very specific” so, not exactly my first choice.

Actually, I should also blame covid. Original plan was that we'd hire muscle to do everything and I'd likely supervise. Instead, 3 out of shape middle aged men did all the heavy lifting..

Agreed. I used to do nothing but Jameson and Ginger, but I’m glad someone at some random bar many years ago once convinced me to swap the Jame-o for CC.
I do still enjoy Jameson occasionally , but it seems like I just do shots of it now. A nd of course I cha se them with pickle juice. Because I’m told that’s what sociopaths do. I did have a bit of a stockpile of it a few months ago, and used a bottle to soak some oak spirals in to add a kick to a stout I was brewing. Came out very well, but at nearly 13% ABV, you could taste the booze.

North America, specifically California. I only ever saw it in once in a brick and mortar store (Costco), but I was able to order a bunch of it from the Wal-Mart website back in December.
I imagine you could achieve the same effect by adding a bit of cinnamon sugar to a can of Coke, but I haven’t actually tried.

Practice makes perfect!
The bulk of my drinking over the last few years has been on Sundays and Mondays. It’s not a coincidence that those are the two days of the week I play in softball leagues. Beer leagues sponsored by local bars, to be precise.
Of course, no softball lately, what with the world coming to an end. So now I’m down to two or three drinks a week, which is why I’ve gone back to whiskey sours. If I’m only going to drink a little, I want those drinks to matter.

Homebrew: A Bitter 2020 (Fuggle It)
English-ish style bitter. Fuggle centric. 6.4
% ABV, 46 IBU.
Kegged it and crashed it last Sunday and my (off brand) Arduino controlling the keezer went schitzo. So, by Monday evening, I had some 20 gallons of frozen beer. It took until today for the unit to run a chill cycle again
Tastes alright. Pretty alcoholic.

Vodka shot, cider tallboy. It’s been a good week, and I’m starting the next one tomorrow with high hopes.
I need to start adding egg whites into more drinks. Really do love the frothiness it brings
