Going from a 6' x 5' deck to a 28' x 7' deck has made projects so nice. No rain protection here, but that’s a trade-off I’m happy with.
Unfortunately getting big things up here is a bit tricky. This 3/4" sheet of plywood had no chance through the front door, so my roommate and I tag teamed it up and over the railing.
I’m also growing increasingly fond of big vans. It’s a shame a sprinter—hell, even an Express van—is worth it’s weight in gold.
Anyways... The closet at this apartment was awful, and had very little usable space. That needed to be changed, but I kept putting it off.
Here’s the before pictures. Terrible.
And the after. I’m thinking on one of the short shelves I ’ll eventually use drawer slides to make a large pull-out tray I can put all of my most commonly used tools on. The shelves are two feet deep and thirty inches across.
There’s this girl who has been getting me into plants. We w ent on a day trip a few days ago and picked up some pretty cool ones at a rural roadside mom ‘n pop store , but she also gave me the idea to try training pothos to grow around my window. So... I’m trying it! I built a window surround, tied it into the shelf , and will be stapling pothos up and around said surround as it grows.
There are a few other small things I’ll be doing in here, and I plan on changing the bedroom closet significantly. But after that... I think it’s done. Which is kind of sad

That is no small feat!
Organization - it’s good!

Great job! Next project: some sun/rain protection for the balcony. Perhaps a temporary mount for one of those roll-out awnings.

I’m assuming that there are a limited number of building supply companies in the Seattle area. My townhome was built with the same bathroom sinks, the same faucets, the same mirrors and there was similar flooring elsewhere in my unit.
I also wonder why anybody does mansard roofs anymore . They started in Paris as a way to avoid taxes. Homes and buildings were taxed based on the number of floors, but the attic wasn’t taxed. The mansard roof allowed adding another livable floor while calling it the attic because it was above the bottom of the roof. (I may be wrong, but that’s the story I heard.)

I think I have that same faucet in my bathroom, too.

Very nice - I love what you did with the closet!

I hate mansard roofs so much.

That is a great idea. I'm almost embarrassed I didn't think of it!
