I would SO love to work there too....I have a History degree, a teaching background and prior Museum experience....an Auto Museum job would be pretty much my DREAM job...

There are very few auto museums in Canada though, and NONE within several hundred kms of me that I am aware of :(

My dream job would be the conservation department at the Smithsonian. I saw Adam Savage go for some tours, looks amazing. The Garber air and space facility is bonkers. If I was ever POTUS I would make them take me all through there.

I was to many sections of the Smithsonian as a kid on a trip to Washington! We used to go to the States every summer when I was little into my teens.

The Air and Space Museum is P.H.E.N.O.M.E.N.A.L...

There is a lot that isn’t out for people to see, I think you can take a tour of the Garber facility. I need to go do that someday. I have been in the memorial shrine museum in Tokyo where they have some very rare aircraft.

For my high school work experience placement my dad got me into an industrial museum (he knew the head curator) to work with the technicians who restored & maintained the exhibits. That was pretty awesome, although my usefulness was limited by not being insured to use power tools. By merit of being skinny I did get to squeeze inside the water tank of the steam engine on the right (Elizabeth) to pass the bolts out.

Youre not likely to get into the Smithsonian but lots of these places take volunteers, usually retired machinist geezers.

I have volunteered at an aircraft museum when I was in the military, I worked on an F-86 Saber. I was actually an archeology major in college. I’m from Hawaii, I also volunteered on a sailing ship when I was younger .
