Just a few. Mainly a surprisingly well done Pinto and I don’t mean well done as in it sat on the grill too long.

Kinja'd!!!

Cool wheels, good tires, bad filth and grime. It’s been sitting a while.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m going to guess a 1952 Chevy sedan. Low trim I think.

Kinja'd!!!

Something rarer than a Pinto. This Elantra Coupe reminds me, I need to get back to reporting on the 2050 American Festival of the Unexceptional.

Kinja'd!!!

A street sign that encourages you to drive the wrong way down a one way street. The arrow points to the left but the street goes to the right. I find it funny that they bothered to make a sign for all 4 directions since this is the intersection of two single lane one way alleys.

Now, story time!

I saw a disheveled man across the road struggle with his dog as it pooped on the sidewalk. I was just hanging out in my car while waiting, so I looked back a minutes later and saw he was still standing there sheepishly. I saw him reach down with a napkin and try to pick it up so I called out and told him I had a dog poop bag. I gave it to him and he then held it open as he picked up the poop with the napkin and shoveled it into the bag. I had the restrain from laughing in horror and disgust at this inappropriate use of the bag while he then rambled on and on at me even after I turned the radio way up and started looking at stuff in my phone. He clearly had dog poop all over his hand. Some people. . .

Morning, Oppo.

Update: story added.

I’m not surprised. They look at least unique and quirky and probably are fun to whip about. Sort of so uncool that they’re cool again. Like Westfalias but for poor people who are fireproof. There is also the sentimental aspect from so many people growing up in the things.

I just don’t understand. . . WHY?!?! It will haunt me in my dreams. Why scoop the poop with a flimsy tiny napkin when the bag is designed so you don't touch it?!?!?!

Then hipster types I assume. I like Corvairs so there’s no judging here.

Yes, that decision will haunt me in my dreams.

I like Corvairs as well.

I wouldn’t *quite* call them hipsters, at least not in the stereotypical sense . They’re kinda unique.

The one with the Bobcat also has a 48 Willys Jeep, a ‘65 Mustang (family heirloom), and a ‘56 Pontiac he bought from the one with the Pinto.

The one with the Pinto also has another ‘56 Pontiac and a ‘69 Vista Cruiser that’s literally identical to the one from That 70s Show.

Pinto is an older one too, no newer than 73. Close on the Chevy, it’s a 54.

Interesting that you are probably right about the Elantra coupe.  While a Pinto is uncommon now, they were a sales success and were common for a long time.  The Elantra has always been uncommon.

Well Corvairs are quirky cars for quirky people but not quite anti cool. I see what you’re saying there, but there is a little bit of overlap.

Those must be some interesting 25 year olds. I can appreciate the eccentricy of their fleets. I don't think a garden variety hipster has enough good taste to own such a wide range.

But surely lots of Pintos were just abandoned in garages and in junkyards. The Elantra Coupe is so uncommon heir numbers are probably right about on par with the Pinto population right now.

Aw, so close on the Cheby. I recognized the generation of bodystyle but not the grille design.

The Pinto was also in production for 11 model years. It was something of a disposable car - no doubt some were junked by the time the last ones were made.

For Chevy, 49-52 have the same body, 53-54 as well, grilles being the biggest differentiator.

Not his dog, walking it as a favor.  Knew enough that he didn’t want to leave it, but has never had to deal with it before, and all prior uses of a bag were placing something in it, not using the bag to pick the thing up with.

Out of his incoherent and unwelcome ramblings I gathered that he had had the dog some time but didn’t take him out in public often. That dog had no chill and no leash training. Based on the man’s grooming habits I wouldn’t say he’s in the habit of picking up anything.

Also could’ve been nervous that you had seen him, perhaps and wasn’t thinking clearly in the moment?

I don’t think so. I gave him the bag and he was perfectly, perhaps too much so, at ease rambling away while I quietly turned up the radio and went back to doing nothing.
