article in Detroit Free Press:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

there was a mention of a survey of 2000 truck owners and 38% would rather give up sex than give up their truck for a year. uh, either you’ re doing it wrong, you’re not doing it at all, or that once a year anniversary romp doesn’t mean that much.

and 20% have a truck based tattoo.

Trucks: more addicting than coffee, booze, and sex.

There are some people who actually need trucks, there are others who buy them because it fits the image they’ve crafted for themselves.

I’m not part of that 38%

Also my truck sits immobile in the garage so there’s also that.

I’d give up a lot more than my truck before giving up sex for a year. They must not find their spouses all that attractive or are single and complain about the people  they can’t date.

I didn’t really like or get pickups until I actually owned one when I went and worked in logging country.

The car was simply not going to be suited for the chewed up roads from plowing, 5mo of potential snow, and also places that lacked them. There was also the fact that big game did wander onto the pavement. Pavement that was rated higher speeds than the city despite being 2 lane and undivided and lined with significant camouflage in many places. Majority of cars looked absolutely beaten up after being a year on the road . 1/2 tonnes were sort of like what the Civic is to the city and they outnumbered body on frame SUVs as well .

However the city was actually designed around pickups. The parking spaces were marked out for a full size pickup and the malls and lots had plenty of spaces.

I know Erik has a constant thing against pickups but really after owning one I think they’re just what’s taken over A mericas luxury barges but with significantly more capability . Back in the day you had a Buick, Lincoln or Chrysler land yachts from say the 60-80's, modern pickups and suvs have just transposed them, it’s why those 3 manufactures are all kind of scaled back today . If I had a choice between a new $80k Merc E 45o 4-matic and a GMC 2500 crew cab d ‘max 4x4 , I’d have the 2500. It’s just a more logical choice for me personally. Also I n 10 years it’s still worth close to double in resale even with 2x the mileage .

62%’er here I guess. Parked in the garage because pandemic. I have more running mileage than driving since WFH started lol. Could swap to a JGC Trailhawk + trailer for most of my truck use.

79% would give up drinking alcohol. During COVID? Are you high?
82% would give up Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video. No
71% would give up drinking coffee. LOL
47% would give up using phone. Nah
44% would give up eating meat. I don’t each much anyways, so meh.
38% would give up sex. WTF?

94% of truck owners have used their truck to help others. Sure? Why not a car?
75% of truck owners have used their truck to help friends or family move items. Worst reason for having a truck
62% have jump-started another car with their truck. Sure? Why not a car?
22% have driven someone in need to safety with their truck. Sure? Why not a car?

Corporate tattoos are always weird to me as well. BRAND ! Double meaning  there even... These people could use some therapy based on the rest of the article. My truck makes me feel...indebted and anal about where I park it since it’s new lol. I mean I like it - if I didn’t I wouldn’t have bought it, but t hat’s really it.
