Some people collect cars. And put them in sheds and museums . These people are not my people.
On the other hand...I seem to do the same thing to wood. So maybe I am of those people?

You even accounted for a degree of backlighting/open air vents.
That floor also looks quite a bit nicer than what I remember last seeing down there.

There's only so much grinding, cutting and welding one can take... besides it provides essential flow through ventilation and another way for the geckos and microbats to get out...

My brother’s basement looks like that. Racks of pieces of exotic woods. You’ve got some hard stuff in there. What cha make with it? Gotta 9' * 2" * 6" piece of old teak? I need to make deck rails for Sparrow.

No teak...and there’s not much I would consider exotic. Most of it is Australian hardwoods like River Red Gum and Ironbark plus softwoods like Australian cypress and some vintage, recycled Oz grown Douglas Fir. And some Kauri Pine from NZ.
My uncle has all the exotic stuff in his shipping container...and I think he wants to move it up here.

I’m the same, but I buy the culls at the DIY store. Those are 70% off.

I made my comment with full cognizance of how much time and labor was spent getting to this point. By both him and his wife.

Today I’m hoping to pick up two packs of cypress that we bought weeks ago. 10ft lengths of 4x2 that were a misorder so I got them at cost...about 40 lengths, I think.
Not shown in the image is the bottom right area now largely filled by the structural components of our previous back verandah...all Ironbark in 6x2 and 10 ft lengths...each length weighs the best part of 50 lbs.
