Yeah, voort to you, too. I think the only question I’d have is which gathering had more or fewer masks being worn?

Yeah the governor of PA has been blasted for his hypocrisy in joining the BLM protestors on the streets
but then condemning anti-lockdown protests happening at the state capitol, then he had the gall to sue an event organizer in carlisle for holding an event that attracts tens of thousands of people from around the region. The judge at that hearing called him out on it and denied the requested injunction.

Just my take, but 400 years of slavery , institutional racism, civil rights and voting battles, housing and job discrimination, predatory lending, overpolicing...vs 4 months lets mind our shit because there is a version of a common virus killing an uncommon amount of people? Right to protest sure. Reason to feel like protesting, no comparison

funny thing is....we never really locked down
the bars and barbers closed for a while....thats it

Consider yourself fortunate. Pennsylvania has been on full and partial lockdown since March, and my
county is STILL on lockdown until the 26th (unless our benevolent dictator of a governor extends it another 90 days). Lots of small businesses are gone forever.

Have you seen the news from over here that President Trump could only get 6,200 people to come to the 19,000-seat arena for his rally yesterday and how he’s getting trolled about it now? # schadenfreude

In my experience, the BLM people are more likely to wear masks than the wanna-Nazis, so it might not be apples to apples.
It is nice to see Yourup has deplorables too, anyway.

According to your state government’s website, no counties in PA are under lockdown.

We have many deplorables. Way too many. I guess that’s a universal issue. However, here they don’t have the voting power to elect a president.

Then tell me why barbers, hair salons, massage parlors, banks, bars and movie theaters are still closed all around me. Sure seems like the lockdown continues, regardless of what those fucks put on the website.

shit mate we are made of deplorables
tho to be fair,,the worst up and fucked off too america

The biggest difference is that the BLM people mostly tended to listen to police, while the people who were arrested today did not. Moreover, the people who were arrested tended to be the people who used actual violence against police.
I agree that the optics are bad though. And I am curious about the details. The BLM and the anti-lockdown people have the same right to protest.

tbh...i dont have a problem with these asshats getting arrested
i just realize it makes me a hhypocrite

No idea, as banks nationwide remained open through this whole thing, and bars and restaurants can reopen in PA if they can social distance. Even schools can reopen, and there’s no stay at home order.
Doesn’t sound like a lockdown to me.

I live here and it definitely feels like
a lockdown to me.

I don’t know about that. The worst of our racists generally look to Europeans for inspiration. I work at a Jewish s school and have students from France. The antisemitism there is pretty shocking. I see white power grafiti all over that city every time I visit. The open racism you see on public display in European sport is unmatched even in the US.

I guess there might be some confusion as to what the words lock and down mean.
![]() 06/21/2020 at 16:43 |

fair point
tbh we are good at this shit

The difference is that this ‘protest’ was announced as nothing more than a protest, but then the organization decided to book a couple of dj’s and set a stage and whatnot, making it more like a concert rather than a protest and thats when the judge said ‘fuck this, you guys are out’.
The BLM protest in Rotterdam was shut down prematurely too, nobody got into a fight with the police though. Also doesnt help that youve got a bunch of ADO hooligans among the ‘protesters’ fucking around with the police.

We had some protesters the other day, shouting and throwing stuff at counter protesters. Then for some reason two people came forward from the BLM protesters to the other group, they spoke and everyone got along for a while. The BLM were there to do their thing, the other protesters turned out not to be counter protesters but there to protect the monument. But sure enough the peace didn’t last and the two started shouting at each other again. Doh.
But from protesters to raves, it’s like there isn’t a pandemic at all.
Everyone

France and Belgium is mostly in the last 15 or so years. If you want to see racism, look at the Balkans and eastern Europe.
Brexit in the U.K. has effectively told racists it's okay to come out of the shadows and be open about it.
![]() 06/21/2020 at 17:26 |

Unless it's one of those, 'V for Vendetta' masks and even then they don't know the reason behind it. Doh.

I think it’s been like that for a while in France, but focused less on Jews and more on other minorities. La Haine came out twenty five years ago, and dealt focused on a lot of those issues from the ‘90s.
For sure on the Balkans and Eastern Europe. One of my grandfathers was an ethnic Russian from Belarus, so I’ve seen that firsthand.

France has always had a slight undercurrent but in the most part they’ve got on with minorities, etc... but they don’t like anything that attacks their way of life or doing things, especially their own government trying to increase the age of retirement, etc... they don’t do change.
But in the most part it has come across as arrogance, which every country sees in one another.
![]() 06/21/2020 at 19:01 |
|
It is in fact not arrogance but fear of losing what they have, “la peur du déclassement” (fear of losing their class “privilege” ; not a perfect translation) and the fear that they are paying for others to get out of the misery (this misery can be quite relative, almost everybody thinking they are not having enough ) while they are not.
R acism itself is often done by peoples from “minorities” (it’s not a term we use) against others and sometimes against their “own” .
Most antisemitism is not done by people who might be doing “white power” graffiti (to be fair, i never seen one in my 33 years on this earth ; seen some “France aux Français” a very long time ago but that’ s all ).
![]() 06/21/2020 at 19:56 |

Ye’, like I said, come across like arrogance.
I don’t care about religion, colour, ethnicity, gender, age, etc... you do you and let me be me. We’re all on this planet together.
