a person in Vienna was fined 500 euro ($560) for farting loudly in front of police officers. If the fine isn’t paid, the man could face five days in jail.

At first he denied it, but the police were able to prove that he supplied it.

If it weren’t for the pandemic, I’d take the five days. Nobody would dare mess with you in the jailhouse.

More specifically, according to the fine, “they violated public decency by loudly blowing a bowel in front of police officers.”

My hometown once arrested and charged someone for disorderly conduct for wiping snot on the window of a restaurant. Think the judge let him off, though.

At first I was thinking “If the US had laws against public flatulence I’d have been doing hard time long ago.”  But it sounds like it was more about the fact that he intentionally directed it at the police.  Still....seems a bit Draconian.
