Mad jealous. I am stalking my local dealers for their “opening up” specials for a new helmet and jacket this year. The better half of my life has asked to start joining me on my rides so I figure its time to pony up and get something properly high quality.

I’ve spent most of my night shopping online for riding gear. I already bought a jacket and gloves off DennisKirk.com. The nice them about them is that they are based in Minneapolis so shipping should be pretty quick for me.
I haven’t pulled the trigger on boots, yet. I’m still on the fence about buying a MX boot for 140 bucks or a most comfortable, less ridiculous looking ADV. All the “cheap” ADV boots look like Napoleon Dynamite’a moon boots.
And I think I’d almost rather he the Mx boots for real trail riding and then just spend the other 100 on some skate shoe looking riding shoes.

I know you seem to live a bit more outside of the city centres
but I usually recommend
going into local shops for gear. I bought my first set of gear online and now I wish I hadn’t
.
Most of stores
will price-match online, some will straight up give you combo deals 15-25% off
on multiple
items
that will never be discounted online until they’re previous season stock. I know some places near me
that do much lower priced
straight
cash deals as well.
Critically you actually can try on the gear before you buy (and this is imperative for helmet sizing, also suits if you decide to road race) and also ask the staff to check if the fitment is correct. What is a medium is a small to some manufacture and all sort of oddities. I found I can’t wear the full on race boots because they crush my feet . If they have the brand but don’t have the size or color they can order it and have it in roughly the same time as online, if they do then you just take it home.
I developed a good relationship with a place for my gear so I get leather cleaning kits for 50% off what online charges and pretty much no matter what I buy from there is going to be discounted from online (even with free shipping) without me bartering and most of the time I take whatever it is home day of .
Also,
you can do this with tires.
M
ost moto
shops will price-match
common
tires. Then you don’t do
the whole song and dance of waiting for shipping
and transporting tires to the shop. I’d consider doing this even if you’re doing DIY mounting
.

I thought about going to Duluth to go to a store, but for 1 looking on line I had a hard time finding a store that looked like it would have what I want, and 2 I wanted to spend my day of Anywhere but in a car driving for 4 hours. That’s the down side of living in a small town.
But on the up side I spent and hour riding my motorcycle, then rode bikes with my kid, fixed a 4 wheeler that wasn’t running right, then went kayaking and swimming, and paid off my car. Pretty awesome day off.

I can’t
find that livery. Is it just released
or something IM?
