Clearly the Camry driver is waiting for the colour matched duct tape to be on special at Amazon.

Congratulations.

As I’ve said before, I believe the motor vehicle code in Illinois reads roughly, “Can you write us a check? Well then send it!”

We only do emiss ions checks in something like 5-6 of the most  heavily populated counties, and only on OBD2 vehicles. Even that is just a scan of the computer.

I have sold several sketchy vehicles to people living across the river in Illinois as we in Missouri have relatively thorough safety inspections. I was always public about their faults or their inability to pass emissions and their answer always was ‘I don’t care, I live in Illinois ’.

Does CA still do motor vehicle stops? I know there’s a big push to end those, but I’d think you’d still have to have a full  set of working lights to be road legal, even without inspections.

Look, the tire has tread on it! That is a rare sight. I have seen plenty of cars on the road with less tread than my racing slicks...

They can issue fix it tickets, but it’s usually if they’ve already stopped you for something else....

Only Atlanta area does emissions checks in GA. None down here in south GA. Pay my $28 and get a sticky label each year. I do have to drive up to Woodbine to save $5 but we usually make it a road trip on up to Brunswick to get a good lunch and go to West Marine.

That would be ordered off the road (if not impounded) as soon as a police officer, highways officer or vehicle inspectorate officer saw it for missing panels but most importantly, missing rear light cluster, here in the U.K.

If it had just happened you may, just may, be allowed to proceed home or to a garage as long as you drove with extra care and kept off main or busy roads.

Though if it had just happened many would of got their insurance to remove the car and then waited for a rental company to come pick them up to take them back to the rental office to fill out the forms for an insurance paid car.

Not at all an uncommon sight on michigan roads. Way too many vehicles here have been T-boned or wrapped around a telephone pole but it’s nothing that plastic wrap and some duct tape can’t fix! Ignore the fact that the driver now has to maintain 45 degrees of lock at all times on the steering wheel. And that they’re still watching videos on their phone as they do it.

California only cares about vehicles being smog compliant. They don’t give a crap if it’s roadworthy or not.

If they don’t stop anymore (which seems to be the case) for “No Front Plate”, then apparently not.

Been pulled over 6 times for infractions such as plate lights and no front plate,  they are still doing that

We have no inspections in WI, yet that car would have been pulled over and ticketed for driving like that.

No inspections and the highest insurance in the US?  Yea people aren't going to fix their shit.

That’s exactly how I ended up with the RallyMetro. It wouldn’t pass inspection in Missouri for XJDano, so he basically gave it to me rather than junking it.

Unfortunately it’s $151 to get our sticky label each year.
