Does that 4 series number include the number of “Grand Coupes?”

The s ales volume is inversely proportional to the mass of the car.

No.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

By these numbers the e92 actually sold better than the e36. Since it produced for a shorter time, only 6 years.
But then the f32 tanked. Weird. I’m going to blame it on changing the name to 4 series

Adding another 5 inches (!!!) of length, making this impractical 2 door longer than even the current not-that-short X3 will definitely help.

The 3 series is 4.709m long (both in sedan and touring form) while the new 4 series coupé is... 4.756m long...
The 320i touring and 420i coupé have the same 0-100kph (7.5s) and the weight is 1645kg vs 1600kg, the 330i sedan (there is no 320i sedan on the BMW France website but its available on the configurator...) is even lighter than the 420i at 1545kg.
The 320i sedan “Lounge” starts at 41299.99 €, the 320i touring starts at 43350€ (including taxes) while the 420i “Serie 4” starts at 48000€.
For a direct comparison (as i don’t want to check what is on the “ Lounge” vs “Serie 4” packages) : T he 420i in “M Sport” is still 3000€ more than the 320i sedan in “M Sport” and 1300€ more than the 320i touring “M Sport”.
I don’t see why i would pay more to have less doors and practicality and almost the same car otherwise ; not to mention that the 3 series looks better than the 4 series (IMO).

It’s possible the numbers are about the same if you include those; I feel like I see a lot more GC 4 Series then regular coupe 4 series.

They switch the name from 3 to 4 and the sales drop off lol. It also doesn’t help that for the first time the sedan looked better than the coupe. The F30 was very handsome while the F32 was somewhat bland.

It would make sense of the coupe has some clear benefits. For example, my Peugeot 406 coupe looks very different (better) than its sedan and wagon brethren. With recent BMWs though, meh.

silky smooth inline 6 > course turbo 4
best in class steering feel > crappy EPS

That could have a lot to do with it. I do love my smooth inline 6 and firm steering

I bet you do! They really
lost the plot after the E9x
.
I love my four liter V8 that revs past 8000. =)
My tune actually removes some assist from the steering, and I can remove even more with a press of a button.
