Hmm, that’s definitely a dirty boy.

Some many soaks and scrubba-dub-dubs later...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

As this is a drive-by-wire, I was very careful not to force the butterfly valve open. I used v ery fine bristles to penetrate that small cavity around the perimeter. Stop giggling.

Anyone like my custom plugs for the coolant lines? Worked perfectly.

Kinja'd!!!

It was definitely dirty inside... whatever the part is called after the throttle body.

Kinja'd!!!

Much better.

Well, I'm taking a break.

Looking forward to putting this all back together only for it to still not want to start!

The pen is mightier than the sword! (I wouldn’t recommend plugging lines with swords.)

I hate to be a pessimist, but that throttle body didn’t look bad enough to cause a no-start condition. It doesn’t hurt to clean it, but it’s probably not the cause.

You have already checked for spark and fuel, and unless there is a significant blockage elsewhere, there shouldn’t be a problem with air. If I remember correctly, your car has a timing chain. If it was running well when it did start, it’s not likely a timing issue.

Unfortunately, I’m an novice at this level of auto repair. I could throw out ideas, but they would probably be wrong and you don’t need a red herring.

Pretty much same here. It might be an electrical issue in the ign tion system, since it seems to only work in fits and starts.

Does that engine have a pressure regulator on the fuel rail?

I wonder if badge reverse engineering would help. Slap some stylized T's on it and marvel at reliability restored.
